    Cigarette smokers?

    hey,
i think the idea to quit both at the same time is IDEAL!
    But WHOA!!!!!!
I came to this place to get my drinking in order and now i'm taking on smokes too!
I am very weary of supp's. i've never been into meds of any form and i would like to try to do this from will and natural foods/herbs/etc. any ideas there? i'm also thinking of fasting to truly detox...why not?
Congrats to all you who quit CIG along with AL, truly you inspire me! Thank you for posting!

I say this a lot, but the kudzu I take *is* natural. Are you talking about the Topo, etc.?

        Cigarette smokers?

Wow, you would have thought I wrote this one! I ONLY smoke when I drink, only drink when I smoke--not sure which. So I decided to quit smoking. In order to be successful at that I had to stop drinking for awhile anyway. I found out the other day, after about 3 beers and being around my smoking friends, it was too much for my willpower to stand. I'm doing all I can to do it right this time!

noelle, okay, i haven't done much research on all the supp's but....there is just something to their names, and the idea of "popping" support. i don't dismiss those who use and need them, but i would just like to try find another way..."I will thy will to will"
vettech, good luck, i found i needed to space myself from some family and friends to beat away the demons! good luck...

            Cigarette smokers?

            Were all alike

Flyin you crack me up!! We pour the poison and smoke 4000 chemicals but your afraid of some nutrients (supplements!!) :anon: I hope I'm not coming on to strong -- hugs baby hugs. It just struck me so funny how we are all the same. If I stepped out of line here - bring it back at me :b&d: I'm bad. But I love ya. Pump me up Flyin!

Vettech - I'm being serious now - I was playing with flyin up there in the sky. But the reason our addictions to Al and Nic go hand in hand is because it's biochemical in our brains. The neurotransmitters are messed up. That is where the supplements come in. To fix the problem. Free Form Amino Acids cross the blood barrier to the brain and give it what it needs as nutrition to heal. Anyway it is a personal choice. I just know I tried the NTR (Nicotine Replacement Patch) for 2 1/2 months and seriously had a very hard time. Went off and started supplements - within 2 weeks - wham - all better.
To each his own way. Love to you all out there!

                  Cigarette smokers?

                  Update for Noelle

Actually Noelle I'll just take this right out of the book I got it from (I think It was Det that recommended it to me and it is on the MWO recommended reading on the resources list)

End Your Addiction Now by (Charles Gant, and Greg Lewis)

Phosphatidyl Choline up to 1000 mg 3 X daily 1 hour before breakfast , dinner and at bedtime

                  L-Tyrosine Up to 1000 mg 3 X daily, 1 hour before meals

5HTP Up to 100 mg 3 X daily, 1 hour before breakfast and dinner and at bedtime

                  L-Glutamine
Up to 1000 mg 3 X daily, 1 hour before meals

                  B complex
1 Capsule 2 X daily (I just added one more at breakfast)

                  Multimineral Supplement
(I just take the all one)

If you see my post above - this is what I added to my MWO supplements. 72 hours after going off the HORRID NTR (Nicotine Replacement Patch) I felt amazing. Everyday there after I felt I had the cigs beat. I kid you not. If it works we can all give Det the credit because that's who originally pointed me to the book. Thanks Det!

Hope it works for you Noelle

                    Flyin naturally high

Flyin - I'm sending you hugs -You are a GREAT sport the way I took that jab at you! You give up the smokes when YOU are ready. I never would have planned to give all this up at the same time - it just kind of happened. Weird.

Thanks Liv for bringing this back up and for the referral. I had taken notes from this one. I'm taking some of the supplements, but not all. Doing pretty well actually.

                          Cigarette smokers?

Weird feeling when smoking after drinking

Like most others I only smoke when I drank. It seems like I could maintain some sense until I smoked that first cigarette. Then I would get a feeling started at the top of my head to my toes from the cigarette, then I would be a mess. Did anyone else have that sort of feeling? Or am I just plain ole nuts?:crazymonkey:

I would get drunk faster, I couldn't wait to put out one cigarette so I could have another--Isn't that just gross??
