MARCH MADNESS
Nurse!
Glad to hear from you again! Welcome back to the madness!
I did experience some slow brain days.. I wrote it off to my body and mind going through withdrawals and it did pass. Don't remember how long it lasted, but it seems to me it was not very long.
Hmm, you and Mrs BHOG would get along well. I used to call her from the airport and ask if she had re-arranged the house while I was gone so I would not trip over anything coming in!

yeah
RN, I too had the blahs for a few days, for me they still come and go.............(sorry)
I haven't given up caffeine, so a cup of coffee or diet coke picks me up, but I think I know what you are talking about when you wake up feeling tired, right!? It is just a phase of the post acute withdrawal syndrome(read about it in a book called "Staying Sober")
Hope this gives you hope.............

Ok - ya'll just got out of a late day meeting with Captain Freda - said everyone is to report ASAP to the MESS HALL (Thats next to the Madness Restaurant that Mr & Mrs BHOG dined at last week). We're all under special care for the evening -- noting that we are to do nothing stressful tonight -
Good to see GH1 - Nurse and Dexiie and all the nice words ya'll give me - I love you all ~ big hugs from the mad woman living for free out here!AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

Amuse Yourself
One reason we drink is to numb ourselves from Fear. Fear of situations, fear of people, fear of reality! How do we overcome this? We must start looking at life differently! Take nothing very seriously for a day ... try to look at life as though a comedy. Use today as a chance to amuse yourself. The secret is that you can not get high on positive feedback from people anymore than you can take rejection as a big deal. Looking at life this way takes away the fear factor. You start to enjoy life. So today ... step back ... enjoy the show and amuse yourself!!AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

That is good practice, sometimes when my day was going so SH*TTY I used to just laugh..................I mean SERIOUSLY laugh, and say to myself, "God has a good sense of humor". I get so serious sometimes that I forget to do that alot now! Great sticky for the day Liv!!
Doing MUCH better today, no cravings, in fact it is funny how quickly the thought passes, I have NO DESIRE to have al at all!! In fact it makes me sick to my stomach when I think about drinking!! YAY!!!!:yay::yougo:

LivingFree,
Timely advice! I have a family even coming up this weekend that I am having concern about, I am going to put my best effort into Amusing Myself about it! It may take some brain cells to figure out how to make light of it, but I'll give it my all!
Hey, it's my son's birthday today! Now that is amusing..how he made it to 24 is quite the story!
Stay Strong!

Past Day 5!!
I'm onto day 6 AF. Yesterday was very interesting. I had myself all psyched up for having a hard time, but it was mostly ok. I had a very long day at work and only had to (mentally) smack myself in the head a couple times to drive by my usual wine buying spots on the way home.
At home I was grumpy and snappy. Hubby left as soon as I got home to go do some errands and left me with the two munchkins. When he got home, one was on the floor at my feet asleep and the other was in a chair across the room sucking her thumb. Normally they would both be in my lap at that point of the evening. Hubby said "whazzup?" I told him (all teary eyed) that I was mean to them and I felt like crap.
He said "would ONE glass of wine help you take the edge off?" He's a NON drinker mind you. There were daggers coming out of my eyes and the acid in my voice when I replied "If I could stop at one, I wouldn't be in this mess, would I?????" I think he got the message.
Anyhoo...I'm off today and there's no school, so I'm going to try to be nice to the wee ones. Maybe I'll do something really mom-like and make cookies with them.
I feel BETTER today."We all have a better guide in ourselves, if we would attend to it, than any other person can be." Jane Austen

Mid Day Motivation!
Oh Lefty I am so happy for you! Early in my AF days - My hubbie did the SAME thing to me! He is a "take it or leave it" drinker - not a problem drinker. I smiled a "all is being stuffed down" smile and said sweetly "no" - a few minutes later I smiled a "if looks could kill" smile, popped him upside the head and said "don't EVER ask me that question again". Later he apologized and even stopped leaving his Samuel Adams Bottles setting around!! Good girl. That is HUGE. HUGE HUGE HUGE. Captain Freda is so proud!! FREEDOM Bells a ringing!
Dex - If I could send a hug I'd send a thousand - know you are so loved - put kitty in the sunshine today.
BHOG - I have to gear up for the family events myself ... we might have to :hijacked: and call this the "meet the fauckers" month.
Cowgal - hump day - haven't heard that one for a long time - that might be a good postie!
Our Favorite Nurse - You are so thinkin! Pink for everyone! Big egos in Pink ... I can just see it now! Dr. Big shot ... you look lovely ... :H
Gotta run - hope everyone is seeing the humor all the way through your day

:goodjob: on getting past day 5! And CONGRATULATIONS on telling hubby exactly what you thought, daggers and acid and all, about the "offer!" That is really Standing UP for YOURSELF!
For me, it did get better and better each day. No they were not all perfect, and I did hit some low spots, but even the low spots were better than the drinking days!
Have fun with the kids today!
