    AF but not easy,

:new:where do i start? if i start back when i started drinking, whew, that would be a book,(40 yrs worth of). i just received my 4th dui, when is enough, enough? well in this case, WI law states 4 dui is still a misdemeanor, and 5 is a felony. ya, i decided, enough is enough. too much pain, humiliation, money, and bad decisions. i hit my wall. in a bittersweet way i'm glad it happened. i do not want to be labeled a felon. i'm a good person, aside from my mistakes. its been 16 days AF, and i'm happy with me. but always searching for outside support. be a friend, and post your comments. i can take it, no matter what you think. on a lighter note, yesterdays gone, God Bless.:thanks:

        AF but not easy,

        whtwsman,

:welcome: and glad you are here.

Keep reading and learning. Many here have done wonderfully.

Have you read RJ's book? It is inexpensive and explains a lot. It is well worth the money and you can even download it.

        Again, welcome.

          AF but not easy,

Welcome, from one cheddarhead to another (I graduated from Neenah High)....

Sadly, you aren't alone. Congrats on the 16 days of sobriety- I hope you are proud of that achievement! :cheering

Count your blessings that you've come to your senses, without crashing and hurting someone.... and you are right- today IS a new day. The past is gone forever. I am reading a book that asks, "Do you want to quit? Usually we quit drinking the day we can no longer stand ourselves."..... that really hit home with me, and with my situation. While I didn't have the threat of being labeled a felon hanging over me, I was no longer the wife, the mom, or the caring friend that I wanted to be. Booze was first. Everything else second.

Stay close, whtwshman.... you can do this. Even in the snowy tundra at 10 below. :l

            AF but not easy,

            Hi Wht,
Well, if you want to get sober, you have come to the right place. I hope no one has been hurt by your drunk driving and I hope you are really thinking about how serious this is. No matter whether it is "labeled" misdemeanor or felony, three DUI's is very serious! I truly hope that this is the last time you will ever drive after drinking.

I encourage you to read RJ's book. Most people admit, that quitting without a plan only leads to more drinking. But, if you have a plan and then take the steps, you just might stay sober! 16 Days is a good beginning! Becoming a non-drinker is not easy, as you have said. So, learn from the long timers here. They always have a lot of insight. Read the book and make a plan.

            Good Luck!

                        AF but not easy,

WHT--Keep coming back, I'm new here also, but this is a great place to hang out if you want support. I count my blessings everyday and kick myself for all the times I drove when I shouldn't have--but never got caught. Hang in there, it's worth it!
