Just arrived
Hi all just found and joined the forum. I have recently cut back on drinking, in a normal week i was having 5 bottles of wine 2 to 3 bottles of whisky 8 pints of beer plus going to my local club and having anything up to 9 large whiskeys a night. This is the first time I have written down my alcohol consumption and even I am shocked.. I am determined to be able to drink in moderation and think I can depend on you lot for support, at the moment I am suffering from withdrawal. but I am sick off feeling horrible in the morning after drink.Tags: None

John :welcome: Congrats on your decision to want to be heathly and sober!
Drink a lot of water over the next few days to help with the withdrawal. Staying hydrated is very important and it will flush out your body faster.
Read a lot of the posts out there. There is a lot of great advise and inspiration out there.
Good Luck!

Hi John
I am new here too and determined to moderate. I am sick of the hangovers in the morning and the disappointment i feel with myself when I get wasted for no good reason. I am on day 3 without and although today was hard I am determined to do 5 days at least initially. I really wanted to buy a drink on the way home from work today in fact my body was screaming for it but held out. Try the alchohol tracker i was put onto it and it helps. Chin up.

Thanks for the welcome it was so good to read your replies I now feel I have lots of support. I didnt realise that other people felt the guilt about having a hangover and feeling so down in the morning. Thanks again its just a few hours since I joined but I feel I am being cared for with so much warmth. john

John,
:welcome: from me, too!!
Yes, like you, I look at what I used to down in a week and it is frightful. A tad higher than the AMA suggests as "safe" consumption. I still struggle and fall but am doing so much better since being on MWO.
Have you read the MWO book? If not, consider it, please. It is not a very expensive download at all. (About the cost of a bottle of booze...)
Then you can develop your own plan. That is important. You must come up with a good plan and try to stick with it. A few stumbles along the way are to be expected but nonetheless, you cannot wrestle this darn monkey without a plot to get him off your back.
Good luck and very glad you are here with us!!
