    Sweating at Night

    Hi all...
I'm not doing well at all with abstaining, but a few weeks ago I did manage to not drink M-Th... Was very happy with myself for doing it and did feel better during the day, but.... found it interesting/annoying that all night long I was somewhat chilly, but also sweated all night long. Yucky, "stinky" sweaty. Slept maybe somewhat better, but in some ways didn't sleep well at all. Thought, DANG! I'd have slept better had I drank a bottle of wine.

    Any thoughts??
    Thanks!

Miss C: that is common, from what I hear, to get night sweats when you first go AF. myself, I get night sweats when I am drinking and better when I stop . best to you.

yep, same for me. I sweat when I drink and sweat when I'm detoxing it from my system. For me after I go AF it takes about 4 days for it to totally stop. Hang in there! It gets LOTS better after that

Yep, I don't sweat at all until I go AF. It really bugs me, but it is all part of the AF process.....
You stop taking the poison and the body goes into a kind of detox.
Trying to get all that AL crap out....hence the sweating, body heat/chillyness etc.
It doesn't feel good, but it is doing you good. Go with it.

Have you had your blood pressure checked? Alchohol makes it higher. I was getting terrible sweats like you and since started the pills don't have this. Only problem is that you have to take cutting down seriously if your blood pressure is high, the pills lower it and lots of grog can lower it more. Anyway just a thought - everyone is different.

Black Cohosh? - not sure I spelt that right - is a herbal remedy for premonopausal night sweats. Maybe worth a try to make the nights more bearable.

                Miss Cheryl,

Notice how draggy and tired you feel from drinking even though you "sleep" better if you have some wine?

That is because alcohol induced sleep is not a good sleep. You have interrupted certain sleep patterns that allow your body true rest.

The night sweats from withdrawal go away after a few days.

After a week or two you will be really sleeping and one day you wake up and go "Wow, so that's what a good night's rest is all about!!"

Hang in there, it is so worth it.

Hi Cheryl, yes the night sweats aren't nice but waking up AF is the best feeling in the World, like your insides are smiling is the way I describe it, I feel so happy all over when I wake up now and realise again that I haven't drank the night/day before. Well worth the sweats which will subside over time. Just ride through it, you can do it.

                    Sweating at Night

Sweating at night could be part of perimenopause, and I'm the right age and having a few other symptoms. For me though, I'm sleeping then all of sudden someone turned up the thermostat 15 degrees and your body gets soaked in a few minutes. When it's all over, you're back to usual but in soggy pjs and, in my case, wide awake. Not stinky, just damp. And annoyed. :H

The sweats from your body releasing the toxins is different - that is going to be stinky. During the first few days AF for me, I showered more than once because I wasn't feeling - er - "fresh." I'm sure this will pass for you as well.

                    stay with it!

Hi Miss C. Yes night sweats are unpleasant but normal. Have you tried Evening Primrose ? I find it
                      helpful.

                        YEAH!!

When I was first going AF (I remember posting about it too), I was sweating buckets, and it was stinky.............I had to shower in the AM and at night, all the toxins were washing themselves out of my system, for about 3 days.................WELL WORTH IT!!! I sleep so well now and NEVER sweat except at the gym.............and it is definitely different now that the poison is out................good luck!!
