      Hi Karl,

Trust the advice that the previous posters have given you! I am just completing day 6 and know exactly what you are going through from a physiological perspective. If you have any of the following it is normal during the first few days: itching, muscle cramps, sweating, tingling under the skin, massive headaches, sleeplessness, vomitting, anxiety, fear, depression, hot spells, etc. All of which I have had the pleasure of experiencing during the first 3-5 days! My withdrawal was probably much worse than yours due to the fact that I was drinking 24 beers per day for the past couple of years!

Today is my day six and I spent it helping one of my favorite boozing buddies move into his new house. I made it through in flying colors just by deciding to be the most stubborn god darn AF'er that I could possibly be. Turning down the case of Miller Lite that they had purchased just for me was not hard because I decided to do it before it was even offered! I was going to shut my boozing friends out of my life but they are very close to me. I just told them that I am going through a full body detox for the next 30 days and that any alcohol that I take in would ruin the work of the expensive detox kit that I just bought.

Surprisingly, not one of them gave me any heckling for not drinking. My friend even went to the store quickly to get me a six pack of diet cokes!

Keep going and keep active. The crappy physical effects will be gone in the next 48 hours. Then, as I have discovered, you need to find something to do when normally you would be drinking.

      Take care...caseaday

        Hey Karl !!

How cool to read your post. You sound great. So proud of you for those AF days - that's just stellar Karl. I remember how rough you felt in some of those early days - and yet you were so determined to stick to your goal. And here you are !!!! Congratulations !! :goodjob:

I hope for the best for you and your girlfriend. A complicated situation for sure. And you are a very loving person. Just keep taking good care of yourself. You're doing the best that you can and that's all you can do.

And don't be a stranger here!

        Much love, Ww xox

Hey Karl, welcome. Sounds like withdrawal, that will all end soon. I lost a loved one because of alcohol, and not a day goes by that I don't think about all I have done. I can only tell you that the guilt you feel over possibly losing someone you love because of alcohol can be overwhelming. However, you will be able to deal with it easier if you don't drink. It's been over six months AF for me, not a day goes by that I don't think about her, and not a day goes by that I'm not thankful she left. Hence the paradox, I wish I could help, I will pray for you. Good luck
