First day of surrender
I am scared. I joined today and I am hopeful that this is the day. My withdrawl usually leads to sweating, shaky hands, insomnia, and general bitchiness. My husband is worried about my drinking. I am too. Today is the frist day I have truly surrendered to the fact that I need help.Tags: None

I helps so much to communicate your fears and desires.

Welcome Blueeyedgirl! This CAN be the day if you want it to be. Have you read lots of posts here? If you have, I'll bet you've recognized yourself in many of them because for the most part, we are YOU! Scary, huh?
Don't forget to come back and post a lot yourself. We're here to help you!Noelle sez "Do want you like, like what you do. Life is Good."

First day of surrender
Welcome Blue eyes....
Courage is doing what you're afraid to do.
There can be no courage unless you're scared.
~ Flannery O'Connor
I hope you can reach out to your husband for support, because mine helped me tremendously- he's a quiet man, so there weren't any big pep talks- just tight hugs, pats on the back, and reassurances that it will be okay.
Water, water, water....like Dolly and Trixie said.... you may also want to have some hard candy around, just in case your sugar levels drop and you feel cravings.
I hope you find the chat boards here, too- this is a global family, and usually there's someone willing to chat.
Welcome:heart:!

First day of surrender
Believe it or not, crying does expel toxins. I spent a lot of time in the yard yesterday sweating and it felt good (instead of lying in bed at night with the sweats). You will not believe the amount of support you will get on this site.
The anxiety will go away as will the irritability (bitchiness) in a few days. Just hang in there. If you don't have any, go the store and get some L-Glutamine - it helps with cravings. I just chew them (tastes like chalk). Lots of Vitamin C help as well.

It will go away, Blue eyes, it will. Give yourself time, and be patient.... and as for hubby?
It's awesome that he is supportive.... so go get a huge tight squeeze:l.... that's what you need.
(Even though you may WANT diamonds and roses...
you can't always get what you want.... but if you try sometime, you might find, you get what you need! :h)

All you need from your husband is his support. And his ears to listen to you when you have a bad day and his shoulders to lay your head on if you cry. If he can do that, you're set with him.
Admiting you need help is really good. What do you want to do next?Noelle sez "Do want you like, like what you do. Life is Good."

First day of surrender
Blueeyedgirl,
Nice of you to join us! It's a great site, really! Lots of knowledge and some fun..it will get better, really..the first few days are the hardest. Hang in there. You are veery fortuante to have hubby's support. My wife has been great support through all of this, she has been concerned about my drinking for some time and had always heard me tell her, I'll get it under control, and I never did. Now, with the help of this site and a lot of cranberry juice and soda (my new cocktail) I have been 79 days AF, the last 30 all in a row. You've taken the first and most likely the most emotionally draining first step..getting on here and saying you want to quit.
You CAN do this!
Stay Strong! And post often..read lots of the older posts..you will find yourself many times over...u are not alone!
BHOGWar isn't working. Let's try Peace!

My Way Out gave me hope, and it sounds like that's where you are at also. I had tried quitting before, but it never lasted. Welcome, the support here is wonderful. My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Hi BlueEyedGirl, and welcome to MWO. :welcome:
All those withdrawl symptons you mentioned will go away in a few days. Hang in there. You body is just getting rid of the OLD TOXIN AL HIMSELF. As a few have already mentioned, drink lots of water, and make sure you start taking B-Complex and multivitamins. Read as much as you can on this site, and post at anytime. You will be inspired by many......lots of words of wisdom you will also find here.
Please take care of yourself.Miss October :blinkylove:
