    Newbie here... Kudzu questions

Well, I've been reading your posts for a few weeks now. My story is similar to any of yours - regular daily drinking for years. Now I really had enough. I think I'm mentally ready do something. My goal (at the moment) is to moderate, and moderate drastically. I want to be able to stop drinking after one or two glasses of wine, and to drink only sometimes. On May 11 I finally made a decision. I didn't have any drinks for 8 days, and then I was at the party on Friday (I didn't even want to go in a first place but couldn't find a reasonable excuse), and one glass led to another... you know the rest. I just desperately want to find that STOP button! For those 8 days, I even kept an open bottle of wine in my fridge and just ignored it, which never ever happened before, for many years. Now it doesn't desperately call my name anymore. I know I can do it! I just want to be able to moderate when I am with the friends. I just don't want to explain anything to anybody like why I don't want to have a glass of wine with the dinner when all my friends know that I really love the taste of wine. I'm planning to order some Kudzu hoping that will allow me to do just that, and would like to know if Kudzu has to be taken regularly (the same amount every day) or could I just have enough before I know I'll be in a drinking situation, and be able to stop after having a LITTLE?

Thank you everyone, this forum is my saviour!

    Newbie here... Kudzu questions

    Hi Julie,

Welcome to MWO. I really do not know the answer to your question. I know the kudzu is part of the whole program. I also know that there are many people here who choose to use only parts of the program meaning the supplements and the hypnotherapy cds and choose not to take the meds. However I am not too sure about taking kudzu just before drinking. I don't think that it works that way.

The topamax is the medication that does that. Really, it is the whole program that works together to help you truly reach your moderation goals. I strongly suggest that you download the book. It is an interesting and quick read! But truly, it is the meds, the supps, the hypno cds, and the exercise all together that are going to give you the results that you are looking for!

Currently I am on 300mg of topamx, do the cds, take the supps, and execise daily. I do not moderate yet, but do hope to in the future.

I hope this helps Julie! Welcome!

      Kudzu

Hi Julie/Donna, like Donna, I can't give you a real answer and I haven't even started with my supplements yet, except ones I have self prescribed, but I have taken raw herbs and supplements for many years and one thing I do know is that all natural treatments usually are taken in courses as the herbs need to be regularly introduced into your body to allow your body to balance itself back to the normal functions. They are not like medications that you can use as a "quick fix". So I would be saying you need the Kudzu to be regularly introduced into your system for it to work properly. Are you worried about taking something on a regular basis? If you are, herbs are not addictive and are very safe taken in the proper doses.

        Re: Kudzu

I've taken Kudzu in the past and don't really think it works immediately so not sure it would help to take it before a party....BUT....I could be wrong...give it a try and see if it works for you....I didn't receive too much benefit from it in the past but I think that is because I wasn't taking enough of it....I'm going to megadose on it now....

Having said all of that...what form of Kudzu is everyone using?...I've used the Kudzu Recovery in the past and I've also gotton some freshly ground Kudzu from viableherbalsolutions.com ... just wondering about everyone's personal experience with Kudzu and recommendations on brands, etc....tks.

          Re: Kudzu

Thanks for your replies. My plan is to start taking it regularly and see how it goes. And maybe in the future try to drop it slowly... Yes, it's herb and that's the main reason I am willing to try it, I don't like taking ANY drugs, my personal philosophy is that natural stuff is often better than any man-made chemical compound. I hope noone gets offended, I'm sure Topo works great for most people here. I just feel that I'm in the right place, right moment and right state of mind (finally) and can get away without drastic measures.

Years ago I stopped smoking without almost any effort, and I smoked like a chimney before. I just think that every piece of the puzzle was in it's place for that to happen, so I'm hoping for similar result in this battle.

I ordered Kudzu recovery and some other type (same company) that has Kudzu root, flowers and root extract in it. I'll keep you posted...

Good luck to everyone and keep strong! We are more powerfull than our little demons...

          J.

Julie, first let me say welcome to our group. I haven't been here much longer than you. I am in my 3rd week, and am on 75mgs of Topa. as well as all the sups, vitamines, and exercise(long brisk walk 4 times a week) . As for me, I think the only things that were helping the first four days with my cravings, were the Topamax, the Calms Forte, CD's. As for the other sups and vitamines, I think your body has to obsorb them before you realize their benefits. I'm not sure what is working best for me now since I am doing them all, but on 3 different evenings, since starting the program, I broke down and poured myself a glass and 1/2 of my favorite wine, and to my surprise, that was enough. I was satisfied. My usual was 8/9/10 glasses each and every evening, so something is defintely working. I, too, recommend that you get the book. JR has gone to great lengths to devise a plan that utlilzes proven products that work, if we use them as she suggest, to accomplish our goal either of abstinence or moderation. I didn't purchase all my sups from the MWO HealthStore. I found I could buy them at a better price locally. Also there are less expensive places to purchase the All One Vitamine powder on the web, than at the MWO Heatlh Store. Someone shared a site where two cans can be purchaced for the price of one there. If price is an issue, put out the alert. You'll get the answer. I don't think Kudzu alone is going to do what you want. If it does, you are a much stronger willed individual than I. I had tried before, in a different program to break my drinking habit without success, and I knew if I was going to make it this time, I needed all the help I could get. I drank every night my full portions while waiting for all my MWO program sups, vitamines, book, and cd's to be in place and I saw my Dr., filled my Topa Rx, then I was ready to start, but not quite. On Sat. May 6th all I lacked was the Calms Forte which I got at a much better price locally (same strength). I have to tell you, this is one of the sups I could not have done without. On Mon., May 8th., with everything in place, and scared to death, I started journey on "My Way Out." It hasn't been easy, but so far no big slips and no regrets. I guess I'm rambeling, but I'm impressed with the program and wish for everyone success.
            God Bless, Eliziby
