I need to snap out of it!!!!
I am in such a rut ... drinking about a bottle of wine a day ... on Saturday I drank two... I feel guilty, tired, bloated and need help. I have the book -- I even have campral and topamax ... but I just can't seem to get going. Where do I begin to clean up my mess?:new:TinyTags: None

I need to snap out of it!!!!
Hello there. This is a great place to start out. I'm a wine drinker myself as well, and breaking the habit of cooking dinner and having a glass or two; then finishing it off with the meal was very very hard to break and I still want one. I can't keep very much wine in the house at one time; if it's not there I don't have to worry about reaching for it. The journey will not be an easy one as it's part of your daily routine, and it's an addiction. But, with your strength and desire to either cut back or go AF, you will have support here as well.

I need to snap out of it!!!!
Thanks trlg and Gia -- I think my plan will be to cut back -- the cold turkey thought scares me. I am on Lexapro and Seroquel -- so I know I should not be drinking AT ALL but can't seem to break this wine habit. ugh!!!! TinyTiny

Keep your eye on the prize Tiny. Try not to think of never having a drink, just try for today, tomorrow etc. It *really* helps to have a substitute beverage at the ready while you are preparing and having dinner. The cravings aren't just for the calming effect but the sugar and the thirst. So try with a big glass of fruit juice - on ice it feels like a cocktail. Chug it down and have another. The craving will diminish, I promise.
Once you start waking up not feeling foggy, and your face isn't puffy and your sleep starts improving, it won't seem so scary to try for weeks at a time.

I need to snap out of it!!!!
I am at 14 days Alcohol Free. I am using the Topa and the tapes. I also have been reading about neuroplasticity. I believe that for me the objective was never to feel moderatly high so I have elected total abstinence. I think that will be easier in the long run. You may want to consider that option at least while you get a few months of confidence and experience. Almost eveyone coming off alcohol is at least mildly depressed and that impairs the ability to learn new skills. Abstinence (or moderation) are new skills. It may be harder to learn moderation, because once you activate the disinhibition it is harder to keep the old habits and patterns at bay. Are you using the audio CDs? I am finding them particularly helpful
Good luck on your journey which starts when you start.

I need to snap out of it!!!!
Hi Tiny:welcome:
I too can relate to the wine thing- drinking about the same as you every evening before I ate dinner to get me through the bedtime routine etc etc. I too find it overwhelming to just 'stop' as I get 1 or 2 days in then go back to the same comfy routine.
I suppose what matters is that we get back up and keep trying. I hope you manage to find the path that suits you. The people on this site are really heplful, honest and encouraging- keep coming back especially when you feel at a loss.
The supplements definitely help reduce the cravings but you need to put in the work too, if that makes sense.
All the best!
EviexxJesus said"Come unto me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yolk is easy and My burden is light"
