    Hello Tri-it :welcome:

Look forward to getting to know you.

PS Maisie I find Omega 3/6 and Sam-e both help with mood swings, as does cutting down on sugar and refined carbs. I think though that many of us experience some mood swings, unfortunately it seems to be part of the detox process, but it too will pass.

Matt, glad you are here! Tongue-in-cheek question for you - how the hell can you find time to drink when training for an Ironman?? :H:H

Read, read, read and feel free to ask questions. We're all in the same boat around here and have lots to share.

Thanks for the advice, FloridaBoy and Wooflet. I'll check it out at the health food store tomorrow.

I took 2 200-mg tablets of the SAM-e on an empty stomach this morning, as recommended in other posts. It seemed to upset my stomach a little. Is this normal and just need to take time for my system to adjust? Wondering what other people's experience with dosage/timing is.

can any aussies or kiwis suggest any brand names with the same ingredients here that are easily available??

I've been lurking around a couple of (very reputable) health food stores to try and find some anti-craving stuff, but not having any luck. (well actually what happens if that you get the really helpful staff come over while you are perusing the labels and ask whether they can be of assistance ........ and somehow I dont feel like opening up!!!!)

Hi Tri-it. I'm new to the site, too, and it has been a lot of help for me. I've not been able to string more than 3-4 days AF, but for me it is a lot and it is frequent, and I fall off and get backon again by coming here. I also focused some energies in to working out and doing triathlons, and it worked for a while, but now I manage to stay in shape and be a drunk.

Anyway, it is hard, no way around it, but this is a great place to come and share with people who understand how hard it is. People that don't know what we go through, who can't understand why we can just say "no thanks" to that second glass, who've never work up saying "how'd I manage to do that again?", they can only sympathize in a pitiful way or be angry. This group, we live it every day, we can empathize and help, and then turn and ask the same person they helped ride a bad day out a week ago for that same help and support.

A lot of similar stories, amazing how so. In a way, it is comforting knowing you aren't alone in the urges and blind actions.

              Good luck and welcome.

Welcome Tri-it, it's all good around here, even when it's not so good around there. Glad to have you on board!!:welcome:

Chiman, that was lovely & it made me feel (again) like someone understood - thanks!

Aunty, I've had no luck finding supps either mate...I got the starter kit of the website. I'm pretty sure kudzu & the Nutritech aren't sold down here...although I might try a Chinese Dr...will let you now how I go.

Welcome Newbies! It seems like the common story is that we get 3 or 4 days without alcohol and then. . . .
I believe that our bodies don't get a chance to make it through withdrawl without the ideas, the cravings, the needs taking over again and leading us to feed the addiction. Usually (for me) it is something like "I'll just have one beer" or "I'll just have one glass of wine". Hah. The longer I can be AF the easier it gets to not drink again. Except when I have stress, down times, weakness. And then I have to get through those 3 or 4 days again. Please come here often and share. We are here to help.

Tri-it: Keep coming & explore the other forums. What is your long-term goal? If it's abs, the 30 day abs forum us very positive...especially the daily thread. The AA experience you had counts for a lot! You had a 3 year taste of sobriety. You know you can do it, & you will. I go to the occasional AA meeting & regularly go to Ala-non. That, in combination with MWO helps a lot.

                      Good luck, Mary
