(I was going to say dead horse but realized how crass it would be considering that some of Bessie's best friends have four feet and a mane) --

but Bessie -- who is going to teach us east coast US city slickers about pigs, and gardens and the lovely joys of the English country side. We would just be left with our fern bars, street muggings, traffic congestion and dogs who all look like pampered poodles instead of cute piggies rolling around in the slop :l:thanks:.

Morning everyone,

Almost afternoon actually. Having a quiet Friday - not b/c nothing to do - just because I am practicing my procrastination skills. Nearly forgot how to kick back.

MA - sorry you are having a tough time. truly. be well.

Bessie - LOL - English summers. and I believe Matt is referring to wine bars (brass, lots of hanging ferns). Good to see the ODAT thread continue.

Whew!!!!! That was close!
I had visions of having to go to the "other" thread and drag Bessie back by the hair.........Bessie AND the horse, not to mention the pigs! I need daily updates on their progress........are they walking yet? Speaking? When do they start pre-school? Us city slickers need some education about what goes on on the farm.....What happens when they start dating..........you're going to need plenty of support when that happens. Trust me!

Fern bar, LOL. This was a bitch of a week. I got of fto a rolling start this AM going to the eye doctor sans shower etc. when I realized my left eye could not focus. Fear factor set in immediately. (Remember the black eye?) Seems to be OK. And then there was the broken off molar crown which I have to deal with next week I guess. And the damage to the litle car and the overdue maintenance, overdue bills. But!! I was in this guy's office the other day and he got a delivery and before I left I said I wanted to know what was in the box. (I'm so rude). So he opens the box and removes the freezer packs and there are multiple gift boxes. He hands me one. Fat juicy strawberries in luscious chocolate. Lucky me. I must buy some spinach to hide it under in the fridge or hubby will kill it in one night. I can also make that quinoa thing somebody talked about.

So, I need ODAT. I got confused with the other thread as well. Two threads, same thing. Too much work. I'm just used to ODAT and I'm an old dog and new tricks are hard.

I actually went on the other thread, whatever it is called, and it is really quite different. It seems to focus on meds, physical stuff, withdrawal and is very informative. But it clearly lacks our pigs, fern bars, horses and great healing chat.

So I told them I would be back but also posted an ad for ODAT and told them to visit us.

This thread is great and I would be very upset without it. If Bessie (God bless her sweet soul) should ever go to the great pig pen in the sky, well then, someone else from the English countryside is just going to have to take over. (No Yanks need apply -- too noisy, too too, if you get my drift).

Well there is obviously room for two daily threads so we'll carry on. There are others in subscribers and moderators and probably in abstainers (can't go there as I'm not qualified yet!) so looks like lots of people need their daily thread. (Our Father who art in Heaven........... give us this day our Daily Thread.....!) with apologies to those who are at all religious!

More piggy postings promised for RN! And tales of country life for Matthen and other slickers. In turn I need to know about life in the big city and US of A - an alien place to me! Greeny's taught me some of the lingo and promised me a baseball cap - which apparantly I have to wear back to front?

Re the other thread .... this just started because a whole bunch of us were new and starting out at the same time, and Travis suggested that we have a daily thread and some of us had been very taken with his post and jumped on board.

and someone suggested that we have a new thread every day so as to not have to scroll through pages that we had read already .... and as I''m the first up (living just to the left of the international date line!!) I start the daily thread.

.... and no we don't have pigs!!! Might have to see what we can do there ............!

But I read both of them, and yesterday afternoon I kept coming back to both for some inspiration!

Hello all you ODat peeps!

I've been posting on the Days1-30 Sober Living thread, but always check in on your ODAT thread to see how you are all doing. Although my goal is moderation, I took up the 30 day AF challenge on May1, and have not quite succeeded - kinda slipped last weekend!!! I see myself as an ODAT type, but try to get as many days in a row as I can!!! I will try this weekend, but for me, my resolve and attitude change so much throughout the course of the day. So it is often one hour at a time - but I will not beat myself up if I slip!!!! Hey - as of today, after 15 days of May, 11 have been AF, and I am pretty darned pleased with that!!! Of the 4 I did drink, it was pretty minor - didn't get loaded or stupid - amazing! This is all I really want!!!!

So if you don't mind, I may have to drop in on you all sometimes, see how you all carry on. I'm glad you are keeping the thread going! I like reading about Bessie's country life too - I used to live out on a farm back in the early 90's, and loved the rural life, with all my canning and pickling and jamming, etc!
