    no support system

Just want to add another thought about support systems and AA - AA doesn't get you sober but it can be used as a support system once you are sober.

I am a bit of a loner and went along to AA when I was still drinking but trying to stop. It did nothing but make me worse. I stopped going and in the following 6 months got myself into a position where I was ready to stop. Since then and with new found confidence I have gone back to the meetings. The support is really good once they can see you have stopped and are willing. I haven't started the steps and not sure I ever will - but I am aware of their meaning and am attempting to change some of my behaviours/outlook on life to improve my sobriety.

    Just my 2p.

      no support system

Monarch: I have not support system in the non-cyber world. For personal reasons, I haven't confided my drinking problem w/anyone.

I've been here at mwo since Apr. '07. I haven't been perfect but have had a few long, long AF runs. I'm aiming for abs, because my drinking goes out of control w/the first drink. Currently I'm on day 5 AF & have no plans to drink for the foreseeable future.

Good luck. Look in on as many threads as you have time for & post to your heart's content.
