    New and Ready for CHANGE

    Hi!

    :new:

I just wanted to introduce myself and say "thank you" to everyone who has posted. I think I've been looking for this place for a long time!

I've developed a drinking problem as a way to cope with life's problems. I don't know if that makes me an alcoholic or not- and don't really care. I just want to stop it and feel whole & happy again.

I've been strong my whole life, but this is kicking me in the butt! Due to lots of personal & business issues, I think I've developed drinking as a stupid way to cope. For a little while, it does make things better, but then I wake up and things are WORSE!

Anyway, I want to just QUIT, not moderate. I'm so over AL ruling my life. I've ordered the books, I've ordered some goodies from River Pharmacy, and I can't wait to get back to the life I once knew.

    Thanks for listening.

    I'm...

    oops

I've ordered just ONE book- THE book!

Typo's are probably another symptom of AL being around too much!

              Hi NotThirsty

You sound very positive and focused about the changes you want to make. Are you waiting for all the bits and bobs to arrive before you start in earnest? That is what I am planning to do and am going to try the 30 AF with the book and CD's to see if I can get there. Fingers crossed for you and me!

                  NotThirsty,
                  Welcome from me too!!
Yep I reckon I developed my drinking problem by drinking to feel relaxed (alleviate stress etc).
I agree, once we have a negative relationship with alcohol, it is sometimes very hard to moderate.
The book is very inspirational and the supps (plus River Pharmacy goodies) should keep cravings at bay.
Come to this site when you would normally be drinking. If you need support, just reach out. Someone will be on the site to respond.
Best wishes to you for your next step. Do keep us informed of your progress.
                  x

NotThirsty, I relate to much of what you said. I decided not to worry about whether the label of alcoholic pertains to me or not either. Like you, I've always viewed myself as strong, but AL rears it's ugly head and as you said it makes things better for awhile, but once I wake up, much worse. I am on Day 10 of being AF probably would not have done it were it not for this wonderful site and supportive people. I wish you success in reaching your goals.

I know I'm in the right place.

                      Thank you! :h

:welcome: :new: too. I cannot moderate and this site was the catalyst I needed to get it together. Order the Kudzu from this site...it helped me. I'm 40 some days AF but not really counting because I am now a non-drinker. I do not miss the hangovers at all. I feel better every day.....and so will you. Just come here and read posts if you feel like drinking. It really helps. It's a fun place full of supportive people.

                            Not Thirsty,

Wow! You are years ahead of where I was when I came here and until not that long ago. Coming to the realization that "moderation" is not a realistic option will help with your success. Welcome and I will look forward to reading your posts and responses.
