    ODAT - Saturday

    Morning all!

Up slightly too early this morning. Hubby heading off to the simulator at 5.30 (Mattthen - just don't get too excited - it's an aircraft simulator, for training pilots, no other use!!) But somehow managed to set his alarm for 4am! Being a dutiful wife I get up and make him a pack up and wave him off with a tear in my eye (which turns into a broad smile as soon as the door is closed! :H:H) Love him dearly but do love my time alone too!

A question for those of you in Texas - have you got Crazy Raspberry Ants? I read about them this morning in The Week - wow!! And another revelation. Mike Tyson has been sober for 3 months and is taking it one day at a time!! See, it's what the rich and famous do too! Mike, reveal yourself!!. Who do we reckon it is then? Who's done 3 months and visits this thread? Probably can't type that well either with boxing gloves on. :H

Farm tales. Not many. Got a chick hatching out in the incubator days after the ones under the broody hen. Had to help it out of its shell a bit but last night it was out and sitting there cheeping. Will go and see how it is this morning and see if I can persuade the broody to take it under her wing, literally. Or else I get to be its surrogate mummy. Cluck cluck.

Had an AF night last night. Not too bad. Tonight will be a problem though. Got a girlfriend coming over to wail about her divorce. Problems for a while, hubby made the final decision and now she has found an incriminating phone bill which she is going to tackle him about. Going to get a fridge picnic and I am sure we will drink wine. Just have to make a moderation plan and stick to it. Got a lesson on the horse the next day and he just KNOWS when I have a hangover and completely takes the piss! An hour of hard work on a horse is a good hangover cure but it does hurt so I don't want to be that rider. Throwing up over the menage fence is generally frowned upon in equestrian circles (even the ones I move in!)

    Have a great day all.

    horses and hangovers

Hi there ... well here at my place I have an incubator and we're about the start incubating three eggs at my son's school. I also ride but couldn't possibly with a hangover. I am on Day One AF after finding this site and have had a few AF days over the past few months since realising (horrible realisation) that the drink is the problem, not the solution. I have been reading a lot of stories today ... I bet everyone gets the bug when they first find this site ... and realise my AFdays following by a bender are quite a common response. I for one am NOT planning to moderate my drinking, but to give it up entirely. Want my life and zest for living back. Enjoy your friend (I too found a ph bill and that was the beginning of the end for my marriage - five years marriage free MF and mostly loving it).
Horses and in particular hunting (we do it over full wire fences, with hounds like the British but chase hares and not foxes in NZ)...

LOL!! I've just invited you here in your other post and here you are already!! Hooray! Welcome here too.

I hunt my horse too here in the UK. With a harrier pack, so hares. Oh, except it's banned here so we just pretend and follow a trail...... with the occasional accident....after all the hounds don't know any different!! Full wire fences?? Eeek! Avoid wire like the plague here. What sort of wire? Is the wire covered in any way? Or do you have horses who know to respect it? Where I am here we don't really have a lot of fences as it is shooting country but we jump what we can and one day I plan to hunt with one of the 'big' hunts in the Midlands and scare myself crapless over some of those big solid hunting fences and hedges.

Anyway, I'm running the risk of hi-jacking my own thread here!! Sorry all.
If OwnBestFriend and I get too involved in hunting/horse talk we'll take ourselves off and do it by PM!!

I gotta scoot. Pigs/chickens to feed, dogs to walk, holiday let to clean/change etc etc.

Good Morning Bessie and Ownbestfriend and everyone that visits today. Happy Saturday!!
I'm on 12 AF this month...waaahooooo!!!!!!! Feelin' great. Doing some garden work this morning as a part of my certification at an historical site. I'm looking forward to it...but could never be up and at 'em this early hungover. Oh, what a joy to be bright eyed.
Wishing everyone a great holiday weekend! ODAT everyone.

        Love and Peace

Bessie, I think Mike Tyson is really MATT!!!!!!

Good morning all. How is everyone? Its raining today in sunny California but I guess that happens every once in awhile. Work was long yesterday but I managed. My back is not the best so every once in awhile it acts up. Lets me know how old it is.
Yesterday was my son's last day at school. I woke him up, he immediately grinned from ear to ear and said " do you realize this is the last time you will ever have to wake me up for high school" ( he goes to college in August) it was very funny.
On that note I leave you

I would like to entitle my post today..."Ode to a Three Legged Dog".

The other day as I was outside doing yard work and throwing the ball to my Golden Retrievers, I glanced across to the house next door to notice that I had a new neighbor with a little white fluffy dog. Of course my Golden's noticed the pup as well and decided to run over and introduce themselves. When the dog stood up it moved kind of funny. Then I noticed it was missing its right front leg. I thought to myself...wow I've never seen a three legged dog before. That's kind of strange...I wonder how he feels about only having three legs. Does he know the difference? I wouldn't want a three legged dog but at least it has a home.

Last night I got to my lake home around 6:00 made dinner and decided to watch some tv. As I am sitting there I notice a black dog out of the corner of my eye. It was walking kind of funny and then I noticed that it too was missing its right front leg! My girlfriend yells downstairs "you are not going to believe it but there is another three legged dog walking across the yard!" Very strange.

So, what the hell is going on? Is this a good sign or a bad sign? Is it ominous or positive? Coincidence...I think not!

Good luck everyone on their goals today. As for me I will also be worrying about losing one of my limbs! Damn, another thing to think about!

I think it shows that we are able to carry on despite our impairments. A woman that lived behind us had a three legged dog that was happy as could be. I'm grateful to have two legs, I just have trouble standing on them sometimes. Good thing I have knees and an arse. I know a super nice guy who does not have legs.

              So, good morning all..

Busy day, gotta run and besides don't have much to say.

Is it Tom Waits that sings the song about the three legged cat? I'm have to dig out the old albums (yes, real albums) and check it out. A AF project for the morning.

                    Hello all,

I slept in today, shouldn't have--lots to do! The wind has quit and the sun is shining!! We got a beautiful rain out of that nasty storm though! Trees and limbs down all over!

Going to a BBQ today for friend's 50th birthday. Wish me willpower and the ability to use my brain and not over do it, ok?

                    Have a great day all!

                      Greetings from rainy calgary!
Talk to my son this morning, and still no rain back home! Is there a drought coming to Saskatchewan???
Just spent the morning reading books to my little nephews - too cute!!

I know three 3-legged dogs - they are all quite happy with their three legs I think! My little jack russell blew the ligaments in his knee well over a year ago, and i contemplated having a 3 legged dog myself - in the end, opted for the pricey operation!! What a dog!!

Talk about hunting and hares and hounds - that's my running/drinking group. Hare sets the trails, and all the hounds follow it! Very fun!!

Have a party to go to tonight - will likely drink some wine, but will try to moderate. Hope you all have a fabulous long weekend down in the states (and in the UK too?) All that wind that was blowing down there was up here too, and pretty well blew my van to Calgary so we did pretty good mileage - thankfully!!!

I'm off to find my daughter! Toodles!

Caseaday, I take my lab retriever to the doggie park about twice week, and there is this pit bull with 3 legs. He runs around that park faster than half the dogs there. Its pretty funny to watch.
As for star sightings, funny you should ask......Matthew McConnahey (sp?) we were eating lunch at the same restaurant, not together,.... hehehehe..... but in the vicinity. He does nothing for me...........now if I could just meet Javier Bardem!!!!! I'd take him even with the stupid haircut!

I had no idea that there were so many three legged dogs out there! I thought that they were only in bad movies and country songs. Now I feel like I have been living in the dark all of these years! If anyone posts that they have a one eyed dog I am really going to feel like a moron!

No, but my brother and sister in law had a one-eye cat for years. They got him from a shelter and named him Ralpie after a Christmas Story. (you'll shot your eye out with that....) Ralpie was the sweetest thing....

Um.... I had a one-eyed cat. I think he did not get lost or that a car got him as I scoured the roads. I think he didn't see the owl coming out of that one eye and got eaten. Poor Guido.
