    Need Advice

I am trying to quit. Joined an Outpatient support group this week, but went right out for a martini after the group. I have had alcohol every day since. I just found this site today. I please want advice on what makes this easier--what supplements, books, CD's etc, have helped you all. I went to Barnes and Noble today, but they didn't have the book, "My Way Out" in stock, so I couldn't buy it. I will order it, or go someplace else. I just wanted some good ideas to help me start out so that I can at least get a few days along, and then build on that.
    Thank you!

Hi nurse, you can download the book on line. Check it out. Every one does it differently but it does work.

You can download the book off this website and print it out. It only costs $12.95 and is WELL worth it. The support you will get from the people here is phenomenal, and the book outlines the supplements, etc. that will get you started. I have only been with this program for 5 days now, but am finding it VERY helpful, and is a very good feeling to know YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Any time you post, you will get so much support, it really helps. Good luck and we are all here for you whenever you need to talk.

Greenie's right. It is about finding what works for you. Some find it right away; others, like myself, it takes a little more time. And that's ok, because as long as you keep coming back and finding your own personal program, the great people here will keep pulling and pushing you along.
And I must say, you really do get out of it what you put in.

Thank you all for your messages. I am starting over today, and am really going to try (NO, I'M GOING TO DO IT) to not drink today. The worst part is waking up the next day and feeling bad about yourself. That starts a whole vicious cycle.

Hi Nurse and Welcome!! So happy that you found us!

I hope that you are able to download the book today. It really was a major key for me as well as many others here. The Kudzu (I ordered from here, because it is the same strength and formula used in the clinical studies) and the L-Glut are really helpful with cravings, especially in those first couple of months. There are many here that have many weeks, months and years of staying sober and living as happy, healthy non-drinkers, we are all here to support you!

Best Wishes on your Speedy Recovery!

                  Hi Nurse,
I also started with books. Both MWO and Allan Carr's book, Easyway to Quit Drinking, had reviews at Amazon.com that spoke to me. I think coming here daily, posting questions, helping others is the most important thing to do. It also helped me to get started when I made my list about all the things I hate about drinking, and the good things that could happen if I didn't drink.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Welcome Nurse! I hope your AF day is going well. YOU CAN DO THIS even if your knuckles turn white and your face turns blue!! It's so worth whatever pain is involved to get to the other side. I'm determined this time is for good.

                    Best wishes!

                        Starting over again

I didn't make it yesterday, but I feel really good about it being Monday, and I can start all over. I tried to download the book yesterday--I got a receipt that I paid for it, but no link to tell me how to get it, so I was kind of annoyed at that. Hopefully, someone will get back to me today. The supplements yesterday didn't seem to do a thing, but maybe I'm not taking them correctly. Off to work, so I know I'll be OK until 5:00, then I have to go to a support group until 7:30. I really think I'll be able to do it today. I hope everyone is feeling as positive as I am this morning!

Hi Nurse. You sound very determined today. With that, and a busy schedule I know YOU CAN DO THIS!!

I hope you figure out the access problem with the book. I've found the customer service team here at MWO's store to be very helpful.

Just to throw in my 2 cents on the tools such as CD's and supplements. I find both of these tools very helpful. I dont' use the Clearing and Hypnosis CD's as much as I should, but I use the Subliminal and Sleeping CD's almost daily. I think it helps wire me in the right direction. I think the supplements (all of them - not just the anti-craving ones) help keep my body healthy so that overal I'm not craving "stuff" - which could be nutrition as well as my substances (booze, nicotine).

IMO neither of these is a "magic bullet" that will make you forget about drinking, never think of it again. I thiink they are nice compliments to what ultimately must be strong determination to quit drinking. Maybe it's worked more magically for others - but it hasn't for me. But I DO believe these tools are very valuable. All part of the picture.

                            Best wishes to you!!

                            DG
