My brother is on his way out of town and I can truly say that his visit made me stronger.My heart broke to see him so sick , and his life in shambles.Less than 1 month ago I was heading down that same road.I am very dissapointed in my first responce to the news that he was on his way.It just goes to show me how I automatically grabbed AL to numb negitive emotions.It is so much better to let yourself feel , even if it hurts.Pain is just a part of the human condition(it did did not last long).I thank GOD that I did not give in to that burst of panic that i felt.Because I did not I think that I set a good example for him.I do not know if it will help but I do know that it will not hurt.today i again feel the Bliss of being sober!!!!! Evie: I posted on your other thread about your brother. I commended you for staying sober throughout what was probably a painful visit. Keep remembering that your brother has his own path. If he experiences the natural consequences of his actions (non-payment for child support, etc.), that could instigate some real changes in his life. Stay on track yourself. In a family, if one person makes a life change (i.e. you not drinking), the whole system goes through a change. Good luck, Mary
