      Well, 'tonight's the night'....yet another start date. They never even last a day before I falter. I truly want this day to be different. Maybe this forum is the type of thing I need to succeed. Like I've said before, I really am trying....and really need help....see you at midnight when I get home from work and face the demons...thanks for being here.

        Renewal, Do you have the cd's and the supplements? I was thinking you might try listening to the hypno cd's to relax when you get home and just go to sleep at the end. Do something to break the routine. I know there is not much open at night but maybe, if you eat after work, go to a dinner that does not have alcohol to eat. It only takes a few days of isrupting the pattern until it gets somewhat easier.

          Jeeeeez, I just wrote a long post, detailing all of my first day....when I went to post it, I guess my time had run out....so I had to log in again and my entire note was gone....here's a quick summary. I did not drink today...and will not tonight. I am drinking an O'Douls non alcoholic beer as we speak.......picked up some Glutamine today and took some of those earlier. I'll get the MWO book by the weekend.....tried to quit tobacco today too. Found that too much to do both....so, picked up a container of Skoal bandits (pouches) on the way home......I played baseball for 2 years in College, and chewing tobacco was very common......had a headache at work, so thought maybe to ween off the tobacco as I try to quit the booze.....again, no drinks tonight....successful day 1.....goodnight all.........................Renewal

            Hi renewal!
            Just read this thread through and wanted to congratulate you on your success of going AF last night! I too am struggling to get out of the rut of drinking after a long day ( I'm a full time mum and look forward to wind down after the kids go to bed). This site has really helped me and so has the MWO program.
            I did wonder whether you were taking on too much by quitting ciggies as well? Just a thought, small steps.

              Well done Renewal for a successful day 1 - keep it up and keep coming back here for motivation. I have also just completed day 1 - although in different timezones and I cant be there in your witching hour I will still read your posts and be with you in thought. Lets keep it up

                  Way to go on Day 1 AF!!! You are on your Way. I agree with the other posters on too much at one time. Or, you may be one of those guys that just want's to do it ALL and get it over with. As a dental professional, the Skoal scares me. Oral cancer is a higher risk with the use of that!!! But, do what you gotta do.

                      Congratulations Renewal. Have you considered nicotine patches for the cigarette craving? I'm looking toward day 2 AF as well. Good luck to us all!
