    Hi Renwal,
Welcome to MWO... I hope you get this message when you arrive home tonight and think twice before opening up the booze cabinet.... we are all here for a chat.
Cindi is right, if you can, then it is definetly worth it to download the book, it was a life changing moment for me and I haven't looked back since.
I hope to see you here again tomorrow!

I only drink late at night after work (I get home from work around midnight).......I've never done any other drugs in my life, but can't seem to stop drinking. My main issue is accountability. I live alone, so after a stressful night at work, I lean on a few drinks to unwind.....with nobody around to stop me. I'm a pretty high functioning guy in a lot of ways....except this issue. I've never been to any kind of treatment, but would greatly appreciate any help this forum can provide. Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you. Renewal

        Hello Renwal,

I love the positive aspect of your name. So glad you found this site. I can relate to the "high functioning" part of your post. I am the same, no DUI, always very responsible, well respected. Thought it was my little secret outside of our home. I am 55 and used alcohol to help de-stress after a demanding day. The difference for me was that I had my husband and children, who are now older, who realized and verbalized that I was going the wrong direction. Of coarse I was, OUTWARDLY, in denial. But knew on the inside that I needed to take care of this problem. To top it off I had become someone who, after drinking, either slinked off to bed- interacting with no one or was nasty when I drank. That is no way for any of us to live.

Bought the book, CD's, went to the Dr. armed with information about this site and started on topa, which I took for about 6 mos. There are many tools to be used, these as well as others. We are all unique and must find the correct combination of what is effective for us to attain our goal. Be it moderation or sobriety. I CANNOT moderate. Let's just say, I'm an all or nothing kind of gal. And when I say all, I mean down to the last drop! So I choose sobriety. After many attempts, I am 72 days Alcohol Free, today! And, by the way, all aspects of my life are improving greatly!

You will find loads of support from non-judgemental friends who understand EXACTLY what you are feeling and experiencing. Come here often, read and post alot!

Welcome and best wishes for success!

        Best :h

I've only been on this forum for 2 days now....but am strongly encouraged by the people I see. Thank you all so much.

Don't know the proper way to go about this, but I'm thinking maybe I should just post on my new thread, Newbies Unite?? Or should I keep this personal log too.....feel free to advise.....meanwhile, as I posted on the thread, my day 2 is a success....not gonna drink tonight....hope you'll see me on the thread....goodnight my new friends.

              Hi Renewal,

Congratulations on day 2. I haven't the answer to the threads because I've never done forums before and I still get confused. I log on to a thread that looks like it's been replied today yet was started a long time ago - guess I'll get the hang of it sometime (I'm cool with computers but stupid about manouvering my way round this site). However, I do always get something out of logging on. You've done well - You know I've managed to do 16 nights and in some ways I don't want to get to the 30 because it means some decisions have to be made - but I'm not thinking about that just ODAT because I'm not there yet. I'm also clueless about different time zones but suspect you'll be coming up to day 3 so wish you lots and lots of luck - I'm not overweight but I have lost some pounds but here are some of the nice things that have happened to me in the last 17 days happier, sleep amazingly well, bright white eyes, no puffiness, more alert and I can drive in the evenings if I want to.

Amazing benefits that if we could bottle we made a million!

Wishing you lots and lots of good luck Px

Hey there.....this was my initial log when I joined a week ago. Can't believe it's only been a week. At any rate, thought I'd post something on here again. Since my second day, my focus has been on the 'Newbies Unite' thread, which is going very well. I do notice that my focus is on encouraging everybody who visits, which is good....but at times I lose track of where I am at.....today is day 7 AF.....one full week.....jeez, can't tell you the last time I could say that. No, really....couldn't tell ya. Feeling better than the first few days, that's for sure. Also been more accountable because of the forum. Wonderful people here....thank you all so much for the support. I will pick up the MWO book by tomorrow and look forward to reading it. In the meantime, just wanted to touch base on 'my old log'
....come quite a ways in one week's time.....appreciate you all.
