    New here and feeling helpless

Don't beat yourself up. You want to be sober, so it shall be. Take Evie's advice and maybe cold turkey is not for you. Water down your drinks, force yourself drink water between your alcohol.

You will do this. And please make another appointment with your doctor. The meds have really worked for my cravings.

    We are here for you.
Take everything in moderation. Including moderation.

Welcome aboard!! You made a courageous first step!! I would take Evie and Sundaisy advice and not go cold turkey today but drink a glass of water between drinks...take some vitamins..and water down your drinks to help ease you down. I did this as well and you'll be amazed how great you feel tommorrow. Take care and we are all here to help!!

Sorry your having a hard time! I was wondering if you are on any anti-depression meds? A few years ago I was taking Effexor. I started to wean myself off them and began having some CRAZY panic attacks. the more attacks I had the more i drank. I have found releaf from my anxity with the help of my therapist that does accupuncture. I'm glad you have your mom on your side. She can be your rock
to lean on. Sometimes when I can't control my drinking, I sleep over my mothers house. I have 5 little dogs, so this is not that easy to do, plus she has 10 cat's!!!!!!!!!!!! MEOW!
Hope you feel better... keep coming back!!!!!! hugs

I really hope you are able to keep the apt. wit the Doc. - mabye even a couple of days in a detox ward would help you get a few days under your belt. . . There is a member Cindi here who did that - and have been doing very well since that day. You can check out her journey on the boards and I know she is totally open to sharing her story. She is an amazing lady who has really gotten on the path. So with all my love and support

                You can do this --
AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

livingfree: thanks for the reply. Thank God I went to the appointment with the doc. Explained the situation to him and he was very worried. He prescribed me Valium 5mg for the panic attacks and because he is leaving abroad this week i cannot go for detox into the clinic this week. Trying to make it next week

Keep working hard at this!! My panic and anxiety lessened up the more days of AF I went....I started gaining confidence in myself and the brain fog...which why in my opionion alot of us suffer from anxiety and or panic attacks. Our brains are telling us to stop the onslaught on it from drinking. If after awhile you still suffer from panic attacks meds and counseling help alot..just knowing I have Ativan to get me threw one if i have one is wonders for confidence level and my ease!! Were all here to help!! Keep strong...another day AF is another day in freedom!!
