    HELP!!

Eating was tough for the first week. I could only handle a bland diet, toast, rice, noodles, stuff like that. I also cut a whole lot of caffeine out. I am drinking only caffeine free soda, and I bought the coffee that is only 50% caffeine. Never heard of ativan causing anyone the shakes, but everyone is different. Maybe cutting down on the caffeine, trying to eat a little will help. I had to force myself to eat at times.

        HELP!!

Man I'm glad I finally have someone to talk to, you guys are great!! So how do I quit drinking when I am trying to meet new friends and restart my life, when all anyone ever wants to do is go to the bar or the clubs. Thats very depressing when you have to say no because of an addiction.

          HELP!!

I am often alone. I am divorce and kids are older and are never around, so I also have to make new Sober friends. I have started to go to AA meetings. That is the only way that I know I can meet sober people and make new friends. You would be surprised at how many people your age are there.

            HELP!!

I have read some of your past threads Seacailin.............don't know how you did it. How are you feeling now. I had a friend just go through AA and quit drinking, and resorted to drugs because without drinking she said everything just got worse. And another friend told me that he had been to AA and it was kind of a wast of time. And how do you go to AA if you have to be at work.........??

              HELP!!

Feel pretty damn good now. I don't know where u are from, but here in New Hampshire there are AA meetings at all different times of day and night. Not everyone likes AA, and I am not particularly thrilled that I have to go back, but I will sit in this house alone if I do not go. You get out of it what you put in to it. Take what u need and leave the rest. I don't believe in all of their philosophies. I just use what I need.

                    HELP!!

I can only get what he thinks I need, I can't request a drug. I have already spent so much money in doc visits I don't think I can go many more times. I am going to have to hope and pray that the prozac, and the ativan will help me. I have reason, and I am willing, and I am strong. And now I have friends.......so hopefully I can win the war this time.

                        HELP!!

                        TLB,

Welcome to MWO. Sea is one of the best. She's been through a lot and goes to show that there's always hope. I heard some familiar "tunes" in your story - we drink to socialize, to celebrate, to deal with emotional pain. But the truth of the matter is that the booze only complicates our lives, and never is part of the solution. As much as you love your girl, I would concentrate on getting your life together because that's where it all starts. If you're back at the doctor, tell him/her that you need to dry out. Take your recovery time to read and research the tools for sobriety in this program. The supplements may be of particular interest for their anti-craving properties. And keep on posting. This is an awesome site. We're all pulling for you. Take care,

                        V.

                          HELP!!

TLB - I know I am jumping in late here but wanted to address a previous question. I do have health insurance and antabuse ran me a $35 doctor copay and $45 prescription copay - way less than I spent on AL per month!

You also made a comment that you can only get what the doctor prescribes... If you don't already have a copy of MWO you can buy it or download it. If you are interested in the Topamax/Supplents recommended I would suggest showing the plan on pages 118 and 119 to you doctor to see if changes can be made to what you are being prescribed - this is merely a suggestion, I have no medical background.

Good luck and check in often.

                            HELP!!

TLB, If you have a Vitamin Shopp near you they carry a powdered multi ($18.00):welcome: that should help with withdrawal symptoms. Also, you mentioned how much you loved your wife. May I suggest trying to love yourself just as much. Local health clubs and churches are good places to meet non-drinkers. Good Luck.

                              HELP!!

TLB, Hi i'm new here too but have been through withdrawls many times. Each time it seems to get worse than the last. I would advise you to change doctors. I dont believe it is safe, or advisable to stop drinking without something like Librium. A high dose to start with, then gradually reduce.
The first few days, and nights are awful, no point in lying. Everyday gets better and remember, in a few days you will feel a lot better.
                              Good luck.
