Dazed,
Good for you man! I'm proud of you. They'll make sure you get detoxed in a safe way. I was worried about you because you were having some pretty serious physical withdrawal.
Please come back and let us know how it's going when you get home. Even if you end up going the AA route, this board can be a pillar of support.

Your words have had such an intense affect on my existance.
Know that horrid detox/withdrawl hell all to well. It is why I do not make it past many hours and also, why I refuse to return to the harder stuff which gave me withdrawls, including hallucinations as I never hope to experience again.
I am grieving because of this condition.
I am tormented because I know right now that I am not alone when I am in the worse possible shape, that another has to endure the same hell on earth.
I send you so much care and concern and appreciate in a sacred way how one, such as yourself and all, such as the rest, share so couragously the honest truth of how vile this experience can be.
It is a relief to know that one of our own is getting some rest and assurance from whatever source, such as a Rehab, can supply.
Been there a few times and its impact, in spite of not attaining sobriety yet, has a deep and long lasting impression.
The very best of wishes to you dear heart and blessing to your wonderful wife~:notes:Theme2be

To everyone, a big thank you. I should be leaving tomorrow morning. They think there will be a room for me. I am drinking alot less but the withdrawl is just becoming insane. It is still all physical, incredible nausea and vomiting and shakiness. I spoke to the Doc at the rehab center I am going to and she says that the first couple of days I will be on nausea meds from an IV. I dont think they will allow me to bring my lap top so once I go it will be a month before you hear from me. Hey they do have a tennis court and swimming pool though!
Theme2be have faith and keep fighting. Thank you so much for your kind words. Everyone, keep fighting!
Makes me want to travel back in time and walk up to that first Egyptian that created beer and knock him cold.

I do think this is best and I am glad you are going this route.... I have been very concerned about the fact that you were still drinking while taking Ativan... not a safe or effective way to detox... but clearly you needed to find your own way (much like many/all of us... certainly me included!).
best wishes... we will look forward to hearing from you when you get out, and another part of your path will begin for you and your family...

I wish you all the best in the upcoming month-we'll be waiting to see your posts in 30 days. I am hopeful for you! Kriger"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. The ativan is sitting on the counter. I tried taking it but was as bad as the beer. Ill never take one of those things again.

well that's good... you will find, though, that in medically supervised detox you will very likely be given some sort of sedative-type medication, which should help considerably with the withdrawal... under supervision, it certainly isn't "as bad as the beer"! Best wishes to you...
