Dazed,
Welcome. Glad you got up the courage to post. It really is a big step. I know for me it felt like I was making a committment to myself to do something. It really is amazing that alochol does not discriminate. It can hit anyone, male or female, yourng or old, unemployed or not, and yes even law enforcement people. There is alot of information and support here, so stick close.

Hi Dazed :welcome:
The best way to work this program is to start by reading My Way Out. The supplements and forums are a great tool!

Hi and Welcome
You have taken the first big step in your journey into the "good life". I may order the Kudzu myself. I read the book and have been taking the L-Glutamine for cravings. Maybe my dose isn't high enough because the cravings have been rough for the past couple of days. I am also not sleeping well, so I think that makes it worse. I will certainly take sleep deprivation over hangovers, job loss (cuz I couldn't show up for work), guilt, depression, anxiety, and all the other horrible crap that goes along with excessive AL use. Just wanted to welcome you aboard. I look forward to your posts. Wish u well on your journey. I was in rough shape 3 weeks ago. Now alcohol free for 22 days. If I can do it, anyone can!!

Welcome!
Glad you decided to join us! As you probably already know, we come from all walks of life and from all over the world. Many of us our respected professionals in our fields, but when it comes to alcohol, we are all the same! Alcohol, is devistating once it takes control of our lives.
But, the good news is, you have come to the right place......this program does work, but it takes work! Glad to hear you are taking the Kudzu, you might also consider talking the L-Glut and GABA as well! I also believe that the book is essential.....it is your road map to success!
I look forward to getting to know you! Best Wishes!

Dazed, there is another thread going right now about "tapering down." [Anybody else here know where it is?]
There are folks here who can help you think about that. Since you are working with a doc already about this, though, seems that you really want to stay in close contact with him/her throughout this, if s/he is someone who seems to be competent in this area. Lots of docs prescribe Ativan or some other tranquilizer to help.
Good that you are consuming liquids! And I would suggest lots of water, maybe with electrolyte mixes in them (and lemon juice), maybe some V-8, just drink a LOT of liquids even if (especially if) you are also drinking beer...
For me, "cutting back" was never an option because I just can't be trusted to do it.
best wishes, stick around, keep posting.
