      Made a breakthrough

Hi Luna, I've just got done reading your previous posts. Just coming home from work....
I am a bit late, but I just want to say that I'm really happy you are feeling better today. Once we can wrap our heads around the real issue and not what we think it is (because of AL) it is a lot easier to follow a possible route, no matter how slow it takes us to get there. The thing is that no one makes us drink, no one can really make us do anything we don't want too..and drinking is on the top of our list. We can blame it on everything around us till our face turns blue, but the truth is that we were all born with free will, and we can take that drink, or leave it..but the choice is ours at the end of the day.
Good luck, and like I said, very happy you are feeling better today.

        Made a breakthrough

        Hi Luna,

Was unable to get on yesterday, and like Gia, just caught up with your posts. Wow, what an emotional ride! While I'm happy you're in a good place now, hope you'll go back and read those posts from time to time to see how booze can take a low point and send us straight down to the worst places. I can't help thinking about your intuitive, loving son. How lucky you are to have this little man in your life. He's better than any buzz could every be. At the risk of sounding critical, please don't make him feel that he has to grow up too soon by feeling he has to take care of you. I know you wouldn't do this knowingly, but our precious children will do anything if they think they can help. The resentment won't show up for years. I will shamefully admit that I came close to this - but with lots of support found sobriety before it got too bad.

Build on your positive feelings - they're powerful. I share with everyone here my care and concern for you - you're worth it! We all are, and as long as we have each other we can conquer the demon al!

        V.

VB has a lot of good words...I am a step-mom, and the resentments from the past come back....and they will come back to you as well. And they are my "step-sons", but I think of them as my boys all the same. Just be good to yourself, and your kids..never forget that you are all number 01.

                  Made a breakthrough

Hi Luna, so glad to hear you sounding so positive! Your post reminded me of a passage I read today in the book "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louis L. Hay (some wonderful person on this site mentioned it the other day - I'm so sorry I forgot who!). Anyway, catch this:

Your past is over and done with. What is important in this moment is what you are choosing to think and believe and say right now. For these thoughts and words will create your future.

Stay strong and positive & never give up. You are in charge of your future! :h
