Might be alchohol free today.
I've been drinking. In the mornings now. I even went to Wal-mart for the $1.97 bottle of wine after dropping my kid off for his first day of school. I don't have any alcohol here today (since I finished off the last of the crusty bottle of vermouth yesterday - mixed it with oj and it was pretty blecky) and I don't plan on leaving the house. I think I'll do my hair and put on makeup. Just so I don't look so much like the piece of crap I've become. And after that I'll wait. Eventually it will be time for bed and I will have made it through one day without alcohol.Tags: None

I once was a morning drinker as well. I, as Gia, thought I needed it to jump start my day.
I am glad those days are long gone. Now if only I can abstain from drinking all together, forever.
Don't be so hard on yourself Noma'am. You will probably feel like crap for a few days, but it will get better.
I am so thankful our Walmarts don't sell $2 wine. If wine were that cheap here, I probably would of been doomed. Drinking here is an expensive burden.
Hang in there and be strong.

Noma'am,
Go do your hair and put on your face; it will make a world of difference. The other good thing is that you have no AL in the house. If you find the time, go into chat with O2M- you may find yourself smiling and having a good time. There are some real jokesters here and it would do your heart good to have some laughs. I always find some comedy sitcoms to put on TV to get me going. I know you can make it through this day AF. kriger"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. I always feel better with my face on too. I try and stay busy - clean out the closet or drawers. Anything to make my day go buy. If I feel like crap I go outside and read a book. The fresh air and sunshine will do you a world of good. First day AF - could be the start of a whole new chapter in your life. The possibilities are endless. Good luck.

I glad to see you are posting again. You can do it. It is one day. You have done it before.
You are not a piece of crap. You are a woman and mother who drinks too much. You are brilliant for reaching out for help. You are beautiful for trying to make your life better for you and your children.
You can do it!

Noma'am, I was a morning drinker too. That doesn't make us pieces of crap. It means we have a problem and we need to stop the madness. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!! I hope you DID put on your face and hair and stuff. Part of the old morning drinker me was a slob in that regard, but part of the new me is about feeling as good as possible about myself. Of course our "insides" are key to that, BUT.....until we sort out what's on the inside, nothing wrong with tiffin' up the outside a little, eh??
I'm rooting for you noma'am. I remember your early posts and you are so witty and funny! I want to see the REAL noma'am again! WE CAN DO THIS!! You deserve a sober and wonderful life!! (as all of us do!)

Hi Noma'am,
It's really good that you're embarking on AF days. That old booze can depress any of us. I was wondering if there was a girlfriend or 2 that could join you for tea and chat. I know tea sounds a bit old fashioned (and, quite frankly, real people-type chat is fast becoming an ancient art as well) but served in a pretty cup with a friend or two around your table can be so uplifting.
Our Mothers used to get together with friends far more than we do in this fast-paced electronic age. I remember my mother's bridge club (major chat) and casual chats with neighbors while hanging out the laundry. They were more than exchanges about the weather. If I were near, I'd bring over the antique tea cup I just bought today (it's beautiful English china - bought it for my desk at work as a reminder to sip tea, chat, and listen to others) and we'd have ourselves a good chat. Keep at the AF days, they will give you strength, and here's to our virtual chat. Just pretend there's a pretty tea cup to go with it.

No-Maam,
One of the most destructive things about alcohol addiction is that one of the many side "benefits" is feeling like we are unworthy crap.
That is the addiction taking advantage of you.
Fight back, ma'm. You will be so glad you did!!
We, none of us, are unworthy crap. We simply have an addiction to a substance.
Love yourself, put on some make up, do your hair, treat yourself to a cup of nice tea, or whatever drink you love (non-al of course) and do something you enjoy.
The days will go by and you will feel better and better.
Love,
CindiAF April 9, 2016
