Me starting again. Just cos I am on here anyway, adding another 0 to the drink tracker and AF day to my own counter. Good. There will be another one added tomorrow morning.
Fresh morning here. Damp and cool but sunny and breezy. Going to take dogs out, feed everything then get myself to the nearest bargain supermarket (Aldi for those this side of the pond) and get in the queue for their special offer laptop. I am getting it for my aunt and grandma. My grandma will probably be a bit overwhelmed by it but I want her to be able to look at photos/wesbites of her family online, maybe email my mother who is going steadily deaf and finding it harder to use the phone but she can already email so if granny can too then they can at least communicate some way. Also it will give her something new to learn to keep the old grey matter functioning. My aunt will use it the most. She is interested in so many things so she will be able to use it for whatever she wants. We are going to get it all set up for them, sort out the broadband connection and just give them a simple lesson each time we see them - ie emails one day, googling stuff the next, how to buy online, bookmarking sites, etc etc. Luckily my DH is very good with the technical stuff so he can do all that bit.
If anyone has any experience of teaching the older generation how to use a computer and the web I would be really interested to hear how you got on. Maybe you are that older generation!?:H:H
Have a great day all. Sorry the starter topic has got sweet FA to do with beating alcohol but sometimes that's the way it goes!
