Anyway, to make a long story short, I am wearing heels today (after 10 days AF) and I'm feelin' pretty sassy indeed. I am a little wobbly but probably because I haven't put them on in 2 years! Have a great day everyone! kriger

Wearing Heels while Drinking
I thought I would bring some levity into today. Up until today, for the past severals years I could not wear high heels. The simple fact is that I would have falled off of them! I did not want to be "outed" on my drinking. With the daiily drinking I did, I could not chance making a complete fool of myself by falling off my heels. Has anyone had that experience of knowing you could manage to go about your day drunk, but God forbid if you put heels into the mix you would not be able to pull off the ruse.

That's great, Kriger! Good for you! So much fun, to note the things that are changing for us as the alcohol gets out of our lives...
I could never tolerate high heels, and was so happy when my work situation(s) changed so that I never really felt that I had to... I'd wear tevas and flip flops and running shoes and hiking boots just about all the time, given a chance... and I find that the older I get, the more I am forgiven in the area of fashionable (ha ha) attire!

My choice is to wear flats but I needed to take that step to see how it would go-test the water, so to speak. Every day, from now on I want to do one little thing that goes out of my comfort zone. I need to break out of the alcohol shell that I have retreated into. I'm going to start calling friends to take brisk walks or do lunch, make contacts with clients I haven't spoken with in a while, go hiking, take some Sunday rides through the mountains.... I think I'll go home today and expand on that list. It's starting to become a whole new life, even just after 10 days. kriger"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. I like how you put that Kriger, "one more thing out of our comfort zone." I need to do the same. I didn't realize how much I was in one, and how much I was missing out on.
Keep up the great work:goodjob::flower: I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm better than I used to be.

AK,
Even the outgoing people end up in their own little personal prison with this disease. We have to hide it from the world, or at least the world that might be able to hurt us- sometimes that is family, sometimes its friends and mostly always it is work. The prison seems to get more confined the deeper we get into the disease. I, for one, want out! How's your little puppy doing? love, kriger"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. Thanks, mwo2- I feel SOOO much better for it; you already are there, aren't you? How many AF days for you, if I might be so bold to ask? kriger"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. So give as much care to the end as to the beginning." Lao-Tzu
