Rach, if you are reading, the ambulance is on the way! I left the house and just got home, Texas time 7:05....I got your message asap, I checked as soon as I got home...I told them you were alone, needed hospitalization, that you were a "family friend", which you are here, and that you needed to be treated for alcohol poisioning and DT's and no way could you, or should you attempt to get to the hospital via a car! Answer the door, and go with them sweetie.... If you get a chance, send me your phone number too, I gave them mine, cuz I didn't have yours, but I'm in Texas! Hold on....help is on the way!

this is a note to ToughInTexas,

I've read this thread and the amount of help needed is beyond my comprehension. But you, Tough, found a way to cut through the mustard and offer hands -on help - how to get through to 911. I don't know where to start, and you take the first real step. Wow. That's heroic. I'm in your corner Rachelita, but with Toughintexas on your side, you'll be just fine.

Thanks Vera, I just have a gift of gab, or as my Dad used to say.... diarrhea of the mouth! So I'm not entirely sure that's a GOOD thing... also we call that being full of BS here in Texas....I just "winged" it...they just called me, and they are talking to her, seems to be a problem about getting her to the hospital...the nicest medic called me, and wanted to know what transpired leading up to the call....I'm just saying..."well, she's kinda an out of touch family friend, I got some e-mails from her, she'd tried to call 911, and said she didn't get anywhere, and in the condition I could "guess" from Texas to Ohio, maybe she didn't actually get to 911, and I seriously figured she had alcohol poisioning, and she could've fallen, passed out, God knows what, alone, and/or would try to drive herself to the hospital, which you REALLY don't want her to try to do"..."and that she needed hospitalization, couldn't quit drinking, needed detox..."....they were kinda laughing, and said they were trying to get her to talk to someone, but they were there, so that's all we can do....I told him she needed to go to the hospital....I think he's going to call me back.....I hope they take her, and she gets help! I did what she asked me to tho! I truly hope she gives them her folks number and she ends up admitted to the hospital.....we'll see I guess!

              Kudos to you Tough,

You did a wonderful thing. I, too, hope she gets to the hospital. Before she can tackle all of her issues, she needs to sober up so she can begin to take stock of her life and assess where to constructively go from here. But your willingness to jump in, no questions asked, floors me. Guess we New Englanders are just too tight lipped and uptight! Note to self: when in trouble, call Tex.
