    Starting list of GOOD things!

I'm at 30 days & kind of taking stock. I've been thinking about some of the GOOD things about being sober (please add things you've noticed!):

    (In no particular order...)

    1) Being able to sleep Soundly through the night! It took a while - probably started about a week ago, but it's a big one for me.

    2) People have commented on how they can communicate with me better, that I'm not "all over the place" and able to focus and listen better. Most important person was my brother.

    3) Money saved!! Always a good thing.

    4) People could call me in an emergency and I can Drive responsibly.

    5) Better concentration.

    OK - YOUR turn!

Serenity! Having my sanity back and being able to think about others instead of only about myself is a wonderful thing..

Taking my son swimming at 7:00 at night.....heck leaving the house at all at 7:00 at night. I never would before, not sober enough.
:flower: I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm better than I used to be.

            Starting list of GOOD things!

Second day AF. Today I had a shower, did a load of cloths washing picked up all the rubbish of the floor and kitchen bench top (3 hours work). Also talked with my next neighbour. Normally I don’t do anything except drink, isolate and stay in bed all day.

Waking up happy to be facing a day without any shame from the day before

Having someone come by and not worrying about quickly hiding the bottle

Just wanted to say I am so grateful for this site. I was kind of irritable last night - day 4 AF - and woke up to this gratitude list - that is just what I needed. Life is good being AF.

                        Starting list of GOOD things!

                        TIME
Having more time to do everything I like to do
Having time to just sit and enjoy a book, because I've already accomplished a lot that day
Knowing that I can control my future time
My mind is clearer, not always thinking about my next drink

Now if I could just lose a few pounds - guess I'm eating too much (duh)
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

everything you all said---- especially being myself and not having to pretend to have it together
and my eyes aren't blood shot and bulging out of the sockets, at least they used to feel like they were bulging out because i was trying to hold them open wide so as to look alert and not hung over. i'm so glad i don't feel like that anymore!! Thank you all!
