good night
Last night was friday night coctail and I only had 1 drink the whole night. I know that doesn't sound like a lot to most people but I usually would have had 5-6 and gone to bed without remebering how I got there. I am really new to this program and I haven't even finished reading the book yet. I would love to hear from any other newbies and their stories. I hope I am really back in control......Tags: None

good night
hi backincontrol
i'm not a newbie but wanted to say welcome. this is a great place, i'm sure you'll get alot of support. there's a newbie thread you might want to check out. i would say to stick to one drink is a success when you're used to 5-6. wish you the best!:lilheart: "Love is large, love defies limits. NICE ONE!!!
Nice going on the 1 drink! Not sure if I class as a newbie as I've been on the site since June 08, I've only just managed recently to convince myself to do the 30 days Alcohol Free. I began drinking heavily at 19, more or less stopped around the age of 22, then at the age of 27 my drinking began to creep up again. At the age of 29 I got very ill (was diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis in the end), and thinking it was the drinking causing it decided to abstain for 50 days - I felt great and considered quitting for life. But I just didn't want to let go and ended up drinking more than before - vodka straight was/is my poison of choice. A year later I quit again for 40 days and have been 'trying' to moderate my drinking ever since. In moderating I've had several slips, but fortunately each one gets further apart from the last, the last major one being in Nov last year in a pool bar in Poland, guess what? Drank too much vodka and couldn't walk back to the hotel without assistance from my husband. Anyway Monday 1st September will be Day 1 for me again - hope to knock this obsession on the head once and for all. I wish you well with your plans!!!Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He's the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:6 The Message
