    The jig is up

    Elfin,

I feel your real estate woes! Blasted economy!!! Anyway, wino here...trying to get my head on straight. I got the book and I'm waiting for some meds and suppliments to arrive. I'm on day 3 without anything, but the cravings are kicking in. Going for a walk with my Yorkie in a few minutes hoping that will help. I didn't sleep well last night, but I know that exercise is the key!
Good luck, I may add you to my buddy list, if they have that sort of thing.

    H

Everything I need is within me!

      Elfin,

I, too, want to :welcome: you!!

I go to AA as well as use MWO. AA is nice for me because it is face-to-face and keeps me occupied when I am out of town and traveling.

However, if I went into a group of judgemental know it alls, I would never walk back into that meeting again.

There are some good groups and some bad ones.

MWO is my anchor, though. I have gotten so much help, love, support and kicks in the butt when I screwed up.

I think you will find a lot of caring here.

Get alcohol out of your life. You deserve a wonderful life just like all of us. You won't have it as long as you drink. It is that simple.

      Again, Welcome.

        Welcome, Elfin!!!

If you want to stop drinking, we can help you.....we can't do it for you, but we sure can guide and support you.

I'm 52 and drank heavily for 30 years....I tried to quit or "control" my drinking for years....only to find myself drinking more and more.

I found this site about 1 1/2 years ago and it has changed my life.

I recommend getting the MWO book and ordering the recommended vitamins and supps from here. Take a look at the Starter Pack.....I think it has almost everything you need to get going...

There is no magic. It's a matter of making a committment to yourself to finally do whatever it takes to stop drinking. There are a lot of great people here who will help you along the way.

        Keep reading and posting.....

        You can do this.....

Welcome, you will find success here if you work at it. Being honest with yourself is hard regarding alcohol - there is always some stupid tape playing in your head. The support here is just great, and so many people here are finding their own way out from under alcohol.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

            Hi Elfin,

I really understand how difficult your situation is in regard to losing income due to the market. However, drinking also speeds up the decline! When things get tough alcohol seems to make it much harder! Seems like we really know how to paint ourselves into a corner.

Well, there is good news. You found this site and Chief just gave you some good advice. The same advice he gave me a little over 100 days ago. I am now 116 days alcohol free, my consulting business is back on track and I have lost 48 pounds. I feel great and look great. I am not paranoid anymore and I am working to get my finances back on track.

Keep going! Day by day it gets better! There is no majic - just tenacity - it gets easier every day!
            Keep going!
