    ODAT - Monday

    Morning all

Sponsored ride went very well yesterday. Leisure ride rather than a race though my horse saw the all weather gallops and suddenly turned into a race horse! He was such a star! We managed not to get too wet.

Hot bath and hubby cooking dinner was a good end to the day and he'd even bought some AF white wine for me. Was pretty horrible and I had hot chocolate after dinner instead! We're doing well on this together - maybe when we've done our 30 days we need to do a week each month together. He is really enjoying AF beer so I think he would be ok with that idea.

Anyway, off to fill in drink tracker and get on with the day's jobs.

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Where should I start?

    Hi,
I?m Ed. This is my first post. This is my 5th day without beer, and I?m really craving it.
I didn?t start drinking regularly until my early 30s (I?m 55 now). I never drank during the day, and I almost always drank alone. Before I knew it I was up to a 12 pack every night, and sometimes more.
I tried to cut back several times, but I seem to lack the "moderation bone". I don?t know if I was born without it or I some how eroded it over the years, but after my 2nd beer all thoughts of stopping go away.

I love the buzz of the first few drinks, but I?m tired of being drunk every night. My wife, who grew up with an alcoholic father, doesn?t drink, and is becoming more and more concerned about my health. I decided to try and stop drinking.
In the past I had stopped several times, for various reasons, for 24 hours without any problem. This time the first 24 went fine, I hardly missed it. The next morning I felt kind fo groggy, almost hungover. I thought maybe I just didn?t sleep as well as I thought I had, but as the day went on it got worse, almost as if I were drunk. It began to scare the spit out of me. I went on the internet and found that I was experiencing withdrawal symptoms and that it?s recommended that someone who drinks a lot regularly should see a doctor before quitting suddenly.
I went to the clinic and the doc put me on librium to help with the withdrawal symptoms. I do not like librium. I made me feel drunk without the fun, and I still had the craving. When drink I only drink at night. This stuff made me feel drunk and sleepy 24-7.
I came across the MWO web site while look for help. It looks very promising. So I guess my next step is to order the book.
One question. I need to do this on the cheep. I want to start shopping for a pharmacy that has the best price on Topamax. What is the prescribed dosage?
I am very glad to have found an online support group. I think this just might work.
    Whih me luck.
    EZ Ed

            Hi everyone

Glad the ride went well Bessie. You are lucky having your husband go AF with you. Mine does not really have a problem and can cork the bottle so he still has his few glasses at night! I find it really hard at times but the AF beer has gotten me through this week-end.j

Start of another week and Day 8. Welcome Ed, you have come to a great place. Keep checking in and letting us know how you are doing. Everyone else big hello.

Hi guys - well, baseball season is over and thus away goes the after beer challenge I always face - thank god! What a relief to not have to worry about that anymore.

Looking forward to a AL free and smoke free week and the start of my 30 days starts today.

Ed - welcome! Once you download the book it has the dosage information about the topa in there. Best of luck to you!

              Have a great day all,

                    Morning All

Happy for the weekend to be over and have work to get back to and keep me out of trouble.

Almost forgot my Topa last night so took it too late, almost 9:00PM. Feel a bit fuzzy this morning. I'm surprised at only Day 2 and only 25 mg. Oh well. Now if it will only kick in. Do feel stronger and more determined today.

Ex is still messing with my head, but I need to keep that the least of my worries for now.

Hope everyone has a great one!

                      ODAT - Monday

                      Good Monday Morning everyone!

Sounds like you had a fun ride yesterday Bessie, galloping about on your horse? Good to hear your 30days is off to a good start.

Welcome Ed - I agree with O2M - start a thread for your self(maybe you have already?), and you will get tons of support and input and help. Read the book - it has all the info you need for supplements and topa dosages. Good luck!!!

LVT - 5k - no problem!!! Get out there in the rain - you won't melt. It only takes a couple days and you will be surprised how quickly you will get into running shape. Keep a moderate pace and regulate your breathing and everything will be fine. You will feel great!! I love running - my feet and knees don't - but I do. Don't do it that much anymore, but try to get out a couple times a week.

Hi to everybody else here too, Maasai, Uni, Waiting (think the Topa is working for you??) and all the rest of you peeps here and to come. I almost didn't post today, because - of course - weekends are a total loss for me. I don't even fight it any more!!! Ah well - no wine yesterday and will try to stay off it for the work week (my original goal in this battle). I must stop counting days I think and just live ODAT, rather than always "quitting", cuz it kinda makes me feel like a failure when I do drink wine, and I don't like that, because I like to drink some wine sometimes. I have to take a different approach I think. I'm sure it will all come together in my mind at some time in my life.....

                      OK - to work now!!!
                      Have a great monday!
                      xoxo Peanut

Ok Peanut, you are hired as my personal virtual trainer. I'm a walker, have NEVER liked to run (it hurts my boobies among other things). Isn't it hard on the knees? I know there is a reason it's not suppose to be good for you!:H

This is another great way for me to get out of my comfort zone and do something that I can feel good about. I'm pretty pumped!! I needed this kick in the arse!

The race is October 5th in Denver, Colorado if anyone wants to join me!!

Happy Birthday KBCE!!!!! Have a fabulous day today - you sound pumped for the upcoming week!!!

LVT - get yourself a good sports bra - one of those that give you "uni-boob". I couldn't run without one!! And good supportive runners, and you're set! Start with a walk-run. Run 1 min, walk 3. Then switch it around, run 3 min, walk 1 min, and increase the run time and before you know it you will run 10, walk 1, and finally find yourself not wanting to stop. Good luck - I'm with you all the way!!!!!!!!
