I started Day 1 yesterday with the Topa. It really helped curb my desire for wine ( i had one very small glass) as opposed to 3! But I felt like crap. I'm going to wait til Monday and start the topa again; this time i'll break it in half. It killed my appetite, and my desire to drink, but I felt like I had the flu! Yuck! It's a start though. Are you on the topa? Lets keep talking!

TS,
Do you think it is really the Topa making you feel sick?....It could just be not drinking...you will experience some cruddy feeling just quitting because all the toxins are leaving your system. Stay with your plan...hopefully you have some "down days" to ride this through....you'll probably have to go thru some unpleasantness before you start feeling better. It is SO worth it...keep on trucking. Krigs"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. So give as much care to the end as to the beginning." Lao-Tzu

Thanks guys for the support. I took the topa the one day only. That was 3 or 4 days ago. I have barely had anything to drink since. I still don't know if I had a bug, or if the topa made me sick, but whatever it is, i'm hardly drinking. So i'm waiting it out, and when i feel normal, i'm going to cut the sucker in half, and try again. I'm hopeful though, and i don't think i was sick from withdrawal. So i'll keep you posted. I love this site! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ts, I'm walt. I had my last drink Friday night and so I guess am into my 3rd day of not drinking. I haven't found any places really that have talked that much about withdrawl... specifically, except you. I guess I haven't been all over the site, maybe I'm missing something. I first went on line Last week and found Keepwalking who also wanted to try stop drinking. I believe she was planning to start today but I don't see her on line yet. No great time for me I guess. I just went to bed Friday night and thought no time like the present. Ugh. I ordered the starter pack (no CD) and the topamax but of course have not received anything yet. I envisioned - for better of worse - that I'd just stop drinking. I'm already findiing it's not the will power that's a big deal but rather the won't power! Feeling gittery... what else may I have to look forward to, anybody? walt

Hi Walt, good to see you back on the forum. How did your dinner go (I think you said you were making chicken for something at school?)?
Look around the site for withdrawl info.
The kudzu really helped me alot in the beginning. I found it locally at a health food store. I was too embarrassed to tell them it was for alcohol cravings. But I found out it can also help for migraine headache prevention, so I told them that was why I was buying it. They helped me find it in the store.
Good luck.

I noticed rather shaky hands yesterday.. the first time really. Or perhaps, just the first time I was aware of it and admitted to it. But that's it for me in terms of unpleasant symptoms.
Good luck Walt!Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

HI LTG! Questions welcome! I'm feeling bitter is what I'm feeling - missing something I really enjoy. No, no sweats, yes to the water - boring... but I am thirsty and I have big time insomnia. Also, you know that big jerk just before you fall asleep sometimes? Lots of those last night. walt

Hi Sunshine! I think shakey hands are pretty common too. I don't think it will last long though. Hang in there!
Walt, The insomnia was terrible for me at first! It did get better after a while though (about a month for me now). Well, I cut back the first 2 weeks, and AF 2 weeks.

HI periwinkle! Yea, the dinner went well, I do like to cook a lot! I hope that doesn't go away now that there won't be that yummy glass of wine at hand as I create. I really loved that! It went so well in fact, that I 'rewarded' my self with a couple (few) glasses while I handed out trick or treats. Anyways, I didn't go to bed drunk and I did go to bed knowing that I would not drink starting Saturday. I don't really know why I said Saturday, and not Monday like Keepwalking, or when the supplements arrived, etc... they are all sounding like better alternatives now that I'm on day 3! I might go to old fashioned foods, I think they have herbal things or maybe GNC. Those are the only two places I can think of they may have something I could buy today. walt

Oh I know about cooking with that glass of wine at hand. I find that if I have a glass of juice or sparkling something in a wine glass while I'm cooking it really hleps me with the mental habit part of it. That may not be good for others here but it does help me.
And I think I had 3 margaritas the night before I decided to start my 30 days AF [LOL].
