I Hate This Too!! What choice do we have?? At least we have Great people to do this with, and we have an affliction that is treatable. I am AF today, but probably, only because I feel like crap from drinking 12 beers yesterday. I just keep on trying. That's all I can do. Don't be too hard on yourself. I had to learn to stop beating myself up. It does not help.

ODAT - MONDAY
Boss.man, I too drank 24/7. AF can be done. Keep trying, keep fighting, never give up. It is so worth it. Did you see evielou's thread on treasure mapping? It helps the visualization of your goals on different sensory levels - to have them more tangible, more real, more attainable. Hang in there.sigpic

ODAT - MONDAY
Bossman - try not to think about the rest of your life. My girlfriend's mother - who quit drinking about 20 years ago - said that the hardest thing for a drinker to deal with was the idea of never drinking again, for the rest of our lives. It is so daunting!! That's why we have this thread. One Day at a Time. Just don't drink today. Don't think about tomorrow until it comes. Then when it does, then deal with that day. Some days are easier than others. You're a smarty pants - don't let yourself fall down and not get up - just keep getting back up and trying again. You can do another 7 day stretch, I just know it!!!! I have ultimate faith in you!!!
I myself will likely try the L-Glut under the tongue tonight! I've not tried it yet, and I want to try stop my AL brain from hog-tying and gagging my more sensible brain from stepping forward and controlling my van when I drive by the liquor store!!! That really does happen - poor little brain!!!
Best to you - feel better, ok?

ODAT - MONDAY
Boss.man --- sorry to hear you're feeling so down. You've got me beat with your 7 day stretches .... I have a hard time getting past the 5 days --- it's the weekends that get me. But I'm not giving up ..... I'm now starting day 2 again, but am thinking about just today, and not the weekend. Going to try and treat the weekend like any other day. As said by Peanut, you have to think only of today.
I can tell you're not giving up (just for today... and that's okay, don't be too hard on yourself.... this isn't a walk in the park!)..... because you stated you want to do 14 days next.
Everyone is here to support you.
I just came home from my first ever Yoga (for beginners) class ... .and boy is that wonderful .... came home so relaxed, I just wanted a cup of herbal tea ... no desire for AL. A couple of months ago, I'd be racing home to have wine or a few scotches. MWO has changed that for me. So baby steps will bring progress.

ODAT - MONDAY
Hey Boss,
It must be particularly difficult to battle the urges all day, versus the trigger times (like "cocktail hour") that some of us face. Yet it sounds like if you can forgo the 6am drink, and get off to work, you'll break the cycle. Maybe it's time to meet a friend for an early breakfast? Or go to the gym for a workout before work? I just so value all the intellect you bring to this group and the caring you show others. It's time for us to lift you up. Sending huge positive vibes your way. You're the boss man, and you're awesome.

ODAT - MONDAY
I could never EVER even think of doing this if I thought it was forever. What saved me on day 2 AF was the glut under my tongue and what saved me today was making myself listen to the CD and NOT go in the car to the wine store. I'm a wino. I made it through day 4 AF this way. And it truly is ODAT. I simply cannot think of it any other way. It's too overwhelming to let my mind go any other way. Boss, break a trigger time if you can, as Vera said. It's crutial. It's hard but crutial.
