Survived night 1 of very lite drinking

and it was no big deal ( except that I did feel very good about myself) and feel pretty good this morning too. I shot up to check the boards and I love how supportive people are, and I can deal with tough love. This may sound weird, but if the wine isnt very good, its MUCH easier to do the mod thing. Leave me alone with a fabulous bottle of wine, and I'm screwed. So one of my thoughts is to have crappy wine around, keep cutting back and back, and who knows? I'm sure those of you who abstain must think this is holy crap, and thats ok too.
I feel good today. Tonight I have to go to a fundraiser at a bar. No big deal, I'm going to stick to my "no more than 2 glasses, sip sip sip", tons of water, etc.
The last and only other time I tried to tackle this beast was to deal with the opiates. I went down from 4 a day ( double strength) to one a day at half the strength. I've stuck with that for a year. But it recently dawned on me that I sort of made up for it with the booze, hence my presence here. Clearly I've got a lot of s... to deal with. Are we allowed to swear on this forum?
    Thank you all!

Sorry for the ignorance, but what are "the subs"? Also, it seems you've been around here for a while. Can you tell me how to change my user name? I don't want my husband to see it.
        Thanks for you support!

T, subs means subscriber. It's when you subscribe to the site.

                  Welcome Fitgal!

None of us would be here if we were "normal". Most important, use the forum to learn and grow. I've found the many posters here humble me, and also form my backbone when I need strength to change.

                    TS,
                    Way to go!
I subscribe to much the same theory. Good wine will do me in every time. I will not drink garbage, nor will I drink any old beer. So, like you I have found that in the presence of crappy wine I don't drink.

Swearing: This is a community, and as in any small town, you'll find a complete cross section of people and personalities, beliefs etc.. Swearing is neither encouraged or frowned upon...it is up to the individual. Lots of people swear on the boards. And many people find it, and some of the cruder jokes in the Laugh Forum quite offensive. Others think it is OK. So, go with what you feel is right.

                        Hi Fit and everyone,

Gia, you said it perfectly. Any progress is good progress. You said in succinct terms what took me about 4 lines to babble about on another thread. Hats off to you. And welcome Fit - know that if you order RJ's book or cd's, they arrive in a plain box/envelope with "Capalo Press" on them. Fortunately, RJ was a rather private person which appeals to many of us.

                              Hi there
Thanks for the validation. Unfortunately last night at this fundraiser there was GOOD wine. It wasn't a terrible night, but i certainly didnt win any gold stars. today is a new day. good to know there are others like me out there. thanks for your words. as for the swearing, its not like i have a need to swear a lot, but i just needed to know if i should keep it clean.Stopping swearing is a hell of a lot easier than quitting drinking! Thanks!
