Welcome Fed, I'm fairly new here too, but this place is AWESOME! You've made the hardest step: the first one by comming here. I too have lost all the good, but by being sober, you CAN get it back or at the very least, start over anew. I already got some family back after less than a week without alcohol. Please keep posting, enter chat, whatever it takes.

              Welcome Fred,

Hope you will post again and tell us a little bit more about yourself so that we can get to know you better. As Wally mentioned, starting with RJ's book is the best plan because it gives her personal history and the entire program she designed to tame the AL beast. While you're waiting for it to arrive (unless you download it - some recommend this, I like the book in my hot little hands!) you can read many of the old threads for lots of insight. Welcome - looking forward to hearing from you.

I work in the oilfield and anyone who has worked in the patch can relate. It's work then ... drink. that was a way of life for a younger guy it was fine for a while. Then i had a new baby daughter and a new wife which was great but I couldn't stop the drinking. I was hiding it from everyone even me too some degree. She left..Can't blame her and I haven't seen my daughter in 1 1/2 years. Sadly that made me drink more. it helped at first but I've hit bottom. I'm going to get my life back. Hope that wasn't to much info but it feels better!

Not too much info at all Fred. We can only help if we get to know you a bit. I am so sorry about your family. It has happened to many of us. I am divorced. My children are grown now, but I lost them for two years due to my drinking. I feel your pain. Two of them live with me again. The eldest is on his own. If you get sober, all that you are meant to have will been returned to you, and then some. If you need added support this eve, jump into Live Chat. There are lots of people there who can help, and we have a few laughs.

An enourmous Welcome to you, Fred~

As suggested so considerably, is the idea of venturing into the territory present on this MWO site, such as reading the post, both present and past.

There are as many personal and unique thoughts, expressions, suggestions so brilliant with loving recommendations to utilize and guide you on your own journey.

As well, there are stories that have moments and experiences that you will find bare a resemblance to your own as souls from all over the planet come here.

                    Unique, isn't it?

Just like you, like all that bless this place of peace and refudge , opportunity to be comforted and encouraged is a post away.

Wishing you encouragement , comfort and hope.

                          Hi Fred

Not much to add to what the others say other than Welcome!

Once you have read the book you will have a good idea of what the program is about, then the posts on the board will make a lot more sense to you. Please keep posting- just a few months ago I never thought I could stop drinking, and although I still make mistakes, I have had many many Alcohol Free days under my belt lately, and am beginning to feel much better about myself.

Please keep visiting and posting :welcome:

                            Welcome Fred,

Once you've hit rock bottom the only way from there is UP.

Reading the book was a huge beginning for me, from there I set myself realistic goals and with the support from my friends here I have managed to achieve them - so can you.

                            Keep reading and posting;-)
