Lets start a 7 day plan to get this jump started
Thank you Spirit Girl! Everyone and myself- Thats sounds like motivation to me!!
Funny thing is all of those concerns I have shared in just the past day and i have conquered my first day. i dont have children however I can seriously see how those that do would feel that issue as a huge incentive to perservere.
i gotta tell ya i am nervous for the weekend but i will look at all the positives i will gain by avoiding the poison that got me here. But i am glad that i met some pretty individuals!!sigpicMili

Does anyone here have a set plan of action?
I feel some here are just hoping they will make 7 days without having a real plan in place? I know from bitter experience without a solid plan it is difficult to succeed for more than a few days.

Well I am trying to abide by a mental set plan, one that includes preoccupying my time of weakness (which is after work) with other activities. A couple of days this week I plan to walk/jog in the park. I might do some light shopping. Other days, I am planning on cooking a really nice meal and spending time with my family. You know, if it wasn't for Hurricane Ike and all the damage its caused here in Houston (including power outages) I would go to my tae kwon doe class i signed up for.
Someone told me that joiining a class like Tae kwon doe (which by the way will really help) its about discipline and form. I only went to two and those two days when i got home I could not and would not ruin the improvement i had made in the "dojang" by drinking. The master (its what they call him) stated "what you eat and drink, will show here" That was powerful to hear. but i gotta say, i think its different for everyone. its all about suggestions and healping each other out.
it cant be easy but doable. i do have faith in that.sigpicMili

We have spent so much time drinking it can be difficult at first knowing what to do with all those extra hours!
Tae Kwon Doe sounds very interesting- I am going to do a google search- but I doubt we have anything like that round here

I am very lucky in that I am in the middle of getting a new business going (small convenience store) which is filling my extra time, and giving me something to think about- in fact almost too much to think about, and when it opens in a few weeks of course it will also be impossible for me to drink at my normal time and being in an environment where I have no association with alcohol will be a huge help.
I am also using the L-Glut under the tongue if any thought of alcohol pops into my head. I use the powder- it really seems to help.
Well off to bed now- Day 7 tomorrow- but I wish to carry on this thread with you all- 7 days at a time

Hey Paisley,
Great Thread, I sent you a pm. I will keep checking in. I am proud to say I am on day 21. Not sure how but here I am. I am taking all the supps, 50 mg of the Topa. I have the CD's but never have listened to them, never seem to have a moment alone. I think the 7 days is a great idea. Good idea to stay busy, it does seem like one has much more time when we are not drinking AL. If you don't have the book I would get it or download it. I go back to it often. It is amazing how proud you will feel of yourself and what a better out look you will have. No more worrying about what you did or said that you can't remember. Good luck all you 7 dayers...

You guys, this is an awesome sight and a great network. We dont lie or hide to each other like we do to others around us that dont know of this demon we fight. i did the journal thing for awhile and basically it didnt really talk back to me and simply felt more sorry for the whole ive dug myself into.
i wanted feedback and so i came here. this place is brilliant and i give it major kudos. All of you guys have really helped me to make it to day two!!! Its hard as hell but we gotta press forward even if we fall. You know it doesnt matter when we start these seven days just that we do and who knows what that might motivate us to do. We will approach that bridge when it comes to it.
For all you guys that are past the seven day mark, well I look up to you:dancin:sigpicMili

Lets start a 7 day plan to get this jump started
Hi Paisley and every one else on the 7 day journey.
Want to add my support . Incredibly i'm on day 24 now but i'm no expert on this (only second time i've ever made it past day 7, so can really relate to you all) Really want to echo what SpiritGirl said yesterday - a very helpful post. Day's 4 and 5 are tough you've really got to hang in there but i do believe it gets a bit easier after that and then easier still with every week, month you clock up (made 108 days once and then ruined it thinking I could moderate, which I clearly couldn't) And of course getting through the weekend is another challenge but I was really helped by a comment I received on here after I posted on a fri night - my first fri in my first AF week, when I was feeling really low and I wrote "it's not unreasonable to want to drink on a fri night is is" - afterall i'd got through the week AF And some-one quite rightly pointed out how unreasonable it would be ie it would ruin my new AF healthier life, ruin my weekend, back to square one , so much to loose etc.
The feeling of waking up on a Sat morning totally healthy and AF and clear headed with the whole weekend ahead to do whatever you want, is completely awesome coupled with an amazing sense of achievement and something you must all focus on if things get tough in a couple of days.
"If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting what you've got" - make changes, baby steps at a time, you CAN get there.
The low numbers in your first few AF days may seem like you've got a long way to go but you have to start somewhere. I recall another quote I was sent, remember " a journey of 1000 miles starts with a single step" The days soon start to add up , they really do.
Good luck everyone
