Good for you, all you seven-day folks! This seven-day thread is a great idea! How about some posts about what tools you are using to help you with your plans? Supplements, medication, exercise, diet, meditation, self-hypnosis recordings??? Give yourselves every chance to succeed!
best wishes,

Good Morning to Everyone!
Okay, so this is day two. Maybe if anyone has any suggestions to preoccupy/distract the urge to break our goal, you could be post them. I am thinking maybe working out. That sounds hideous right now but whatever we can do. I wonder if there are any foods that help?
Anyways, lets go conquer another day!! And you guys, if we fall (which lets pray we don't, lets NOT beat ourselves up. You get back up and thats it.
:armsaround:
you guys i hope im not sounding like an annoying chearleading type (though I was back in high school minus the annoying part of course)sigpicMili

oh one more thing:
Those of you who have been AF before, did you feel healthier in general. Like maybe a sense of energy emotionally and physically that you didnt quite have while being non AF?
that might be a silly question.sigpicMili

Lets start a 7 day plan to get this jump started
Hello to all ---- I've just tried being AF for as many days as I could, without any preset goal in mind, so this is good to go for an achieveable number. When I first started a couple of months ago, 5:00 was my "bewitching hour". (Red wine is my prefered poision) ---- I would pour a cranberry juice/soda water into my favourite wine glass and sip on that while preparing dinner. Next I tried diet tonic/fresh lime and lots of ice and that was very good. It wasn't like trying to fake the wine, but it was very refreshing. Combined with the L-Glutamine and Kudzu capsules it helped get me over that crucial time of the day. Going for a walk after dinner helps too .... something to break your old routine.
Weekends are my downfall, so I'm here on Day 2 along with you! It's wonderful to wake up with a clear head and loads of energy! The nice sunny day outside helps with my mood too.

Good morning all, Congrats on day 2. Yes you will feel more energized, clear headed and proud of yourself. Don't get me wrong, there are though days. Think about it, we are trying to cover up or self medicate something. Its helps to sit down and make a list of your triggers. Also a list of at least 10 things you could do besides have a drink. It does take work, call it a second job but the reward is far more valuable that any paycheck. Take care all.

Good morning all - made it! Today is day 2! Paisley, I actually felt worse the first few days - more grouchy, depressed, but then you feel great. Problem is you feel great for a couple weeks and figure you can go back to drinking, forgetting how bad it made you feel.
That being said, congrats on your day 2, eat whatever you want, go for walks, work out, whatever you can do to keep from the pattern and triggers. Those who dance are thought mad by those that hear not the music.

Hi there...mind if I join you? Today is Day 1 for me, so I will be a day behind...but I LOVE the idea of a 7 day AF to lead up to 30 AF. Baby steps....so we don't get overwhelmed.

Lets start a 7 day plan to get this jump started
I just sent an PM to a friend I have at MWO and I thought I'd share a little of what I wrote. Let me preface by saying that I would not consider myself a "success story", as I still have my slips - but I have had probably only had 5-6 days/evenings of drinking since the end of June. I used to drink a bottle of wine (if not more) at least 5 days a week - so I feel like I have had some success. Here's a little bit that I can share:
Once you make it to day 3-4 the cravings are difficult and I was consumed with "alcohol" thoughts on the days that I was AF - "Do I drink today? What about this weekend? I am on day 2 - how many more days? Can I have a cocktail this weekend? What about the party on Saturday night? How will I explain not drinking to my friends?" blah -blah -blah.... The thoughts consumed me. Drinking wine became, what I consider, a bad habit - a VERY BAD habit. So like any other habit - the first few days (weeks) are hard. But like any other habit, they can be BROKEN!! And the rewards are SO WORTH IT!! I cannot express that enough to the people who are new to this process. You may feel like there's no no way you can make it through the weekend - but you can - and once you do -WOW! It feels incredible. No headache, no regrets, you feel FRESH, you smell fresh, you have energy, you wake up and have a "skip" in your walk, the coffee smells great, the dogs barking make you smile, you WANT to clean your house and have the energy to do it. For the parents out there - you can look your children in the face without red eyes and the stale smell of alcohol on your breath and seaping from your pores. You feel like cooking a big breakfast. And instead of wine bottles, you have egg cartons and empty bacon containers in the garbage. It is so much better than drinking for 3 hours and recovering from it for 12 hours the next day. Just try it! For those of you that are going to want just "one" martini or "one" glass of wine tonight - FORCE yourself to drink a cup of coffee, hot tea, Perrier with a fresh lime. Then hurry and get your self/kids together and go to bed. Get through another day. The cravings and preoccupation will get less and less and the rewards become more and more abundant.
I am here if anyone wants to PM me or I will keep checking in... Good luck!!God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers...
