      HI

Welcome NAC. Yep can completely relate to your feelings. In answer to your question No it wont always be that hard. The early days can be incredibly tough, but it does get easier and some days are very easy when you see how far you have come. Some days are hard when life throws you a ringer, but getting through them instead of around them with alcohol is rewarding and will give you strenth to go on. I am 45 and have done drugs and alcohol since i was young too. I am finally learning a new way to live.
      Best wishes

        Hi need a change
I am very familiar with the love hate relationship with AL! It is hard to get started but once you get into it and get on a roll it gets a lot easier - in fact its quite euphoric in the first couple of weeks of success - when you finalise realise you are doing it - kicking its ass big time. I know that was the case for me. I imagine its a bit like losing weight (not that I have ever lost any!) once you see the pounds going off you are motivated to continue. I personally found it helpful getting a PLAN together and MWO is a great plan - tried and tested for you. I mean I couldnt tell you how many times I swore never again just to succumb because I didnt have a plan. So my advice is read the book get all the stuff you need and then give it hell. Figure our what your triggers are and put a plan in place to avoid them like the plague that they are for the first while at least.
Believe me it is so worth it.

          HI

          Welcome NAC.
Breaking old habits is very hard to do. It's like we train our mind that after work we get to have a treat and that treat ends up not being so nice at all. Re training our brains is one of the main pieces of work I have had to do on myself. To notice my triggers and find the way around them so that they don't win.

Best of luck to you and look forward to seeing you around.

            Hi need a change
            :welcome:
Like many others here I can so relate to the love hate relationship.
Day two for me today again and yes it is hard but I have to keep trying. Most I have managed is 14 days so far but I have done it a couple of times now and I have def. drank less in the past few months than I would have done normally so even that is a bonus for me. I used to drink every night.
Hope you stay and keep trying with us all - maybe have a look at the 7 day thread where some of us are just aiming at getting 7 days AF to start with.

I used to love beer. Beer and ciggies. Once you get it out of your system, it's not that great!

                      :hello2: and Welcome NAC
I agree with the aforementioned advice. I read the book, bought all of the supps and vits except for the kudzu. I also do not take the Topa, but will discuss it with my doctor again when my health insurance kicks in on OCT. 1. I was a BeerHag myself. I dropped 5lbs with no effort after three weeks with a beer. I was all bloated up with fluid. Disgusting. It is the most difficult thing that you will ever do, but the rewards are endless. I look forward to getting to know you. We are all in this together. Hang Tough.
