I'm planning and hoping to be able to stop drinking in October. We are going on a 2 week vacation beginning this Friday and I am rereading the book and gathering the meds so that I can be fully prepared to give it my best effort upon our return.
One of the biggest motivators for me will be the possibility of being able to sleep soundly through the night. I awake every single morning around 2 - 3:00 am and don't fall back asleep until around 6:00 AM and then sleep until 9:00 or later. I go to bed at about 10:30 each night. When I'm awake in the night, my mind is worrying about everything there is and I can't seem to stop it. I am also frequently a little sweaty and plain miserable. It is only recently that I've connected this with drinking, at least I believe it might be. I hate that I waste the best early part of the day sleeping because I've been awake in the night.
I would like to know how long restful sleep takes once one stops drinking and if you think this is related to drinking the night before. It's worth a lot to me to be able to sleep and then get up early feeling refreshed.
I would love to hear your sleep-related experiences. Hope this doesn't sound too crazy but I'm hoping to keep it in front of me because in my case it would be a huge incentive (in addition to all the rest) to stop drinking.
Thank you.
