Hi! I'm married and go to the dr. next Wednesday for antabuse. Here's my situation. No one thinks I should stop, just cut down. Been there and it doesn't work for me. My husband likes that I drink because I am a freak with him. My family(Dad, stepmom, cousins...ect.) loves how funny I am. I know it's a personal decision, but I hope it's not gonna affect the rest of my life drastically. They'll all have to deal with it anyway, but has anyone gone through my situation? I'm gonna stop, but if these issues are gonna be bigger than me drinking I may rethink it. Evielou, I would love your input.

First of all choosing to drink is a personal choice and not to drink is as well. It sounds like you want to stop for the right reason yourself!!! Dont let anyone sway you from that decision it is a tough one to come to stopping al so dont let that go!!! You need support from people who understand, you have come to the right place good luck my thoughts will be with you!!!!!

I'm going to do antabuse next week no doubt. I went last holidays drunk with the kids and it's not gonna happen this year. It broke my heart. I'm willing to do what ever it takes, I'll probably come back until then. I just know I do good with supervision, and antibuse will make sure I reach my goal. I won't drink if I cant, and this is perfect for me.

I'll let ya know what happens. So far it seems like a fool proof plan for me. I know I wont drink, but DT's have made me a B to everyone. But knowing I can't drink usually kills the B in me.

Thanks all of you, and to my special friend Akgirl.. I know this is the only way for me. I will be AF. I just talked to my stepmom and my cousin and they understand that I will be sober but I still love them. They think it's great I'm getting sober and we all drink a lot. I told them it's affecting my soul, and everyone I told understands. I love my family, including you guys. Thanks for everything. I start antibuse next Wednesday. It's just great to know I've explained my acts to all before it happens.

I think it is great what you are doing. My husband hated me drinking, it was his oly complaint about me and the other day he actually went and bought me a bottle of wine because he said I was more fun and "looser", the gals at work are asking if I am ever going to drink again. I think it is kind of funny that others want me to drink more than I do! You will enjoy being AF so much and be so much happier. You go girl and keep posting so I know how you are doing. You can always PM me for extra support or to find out some of the lame excuses I have used. By the way; the bottle of wine is still sitting there un-opened..day 20 AF

I think you are a VERY strong woman for trying to quit while your loved ones are not liking the idea. It takes a lot to stand up to that kind of pressure. I, too, look forward to a sober holiday season; it's a downright depressing time of year if you're drinking!! Good luck on the Antabuse; many people here love it. I wish you all the best, Montana. Thank you all. Actually, I guess I'm going overboard on my drinking right now. I will take the antibuse and will stop, but will talk here everyday. You all are like fam to me. I talked to all my drinking family here and they all understand. Crazy, but most who drink want you to get sober if you want. They love me,..(I knew they did).
