Day 1
Hey all. I've been here since last month. I'm on day 1 again. I've had a good 4 day AF run about a week ago. I'm glad I'm getting better. I ordered the antabuse and am so excited. I wish it was here now. My goal is to be AF through these holidays, and beyond. I was sober before for years, but started drinking a year and a half ago. It's time to stop. It's not fun anymore. The day after is filled with guilt and shame for not being able to stop. I don't pass out and I make it to bed, but life is just passing me by.

Day 1
Good for you MM! It's great that you recognize that it just isn't "fun" anymore; since you've done long-term sobriety before, you know that our memories about that can get distorted... so, hold on to it, when temptations come rolling along!

angelcakes, antabuse is the drug that actually makes you very sick if you do drink... the one you are thinking of is naltrexone...

Day 1
Hi Montana,
Your plan is far from retarded - it's the kind of dedicated, do-whatever-it-takes approach which is a great way to start. Have you read RJ's book? She looked at meds, supps, hypno cd's, diet and exercise to attack her own drinking problem. Certainly the antabuse will keep you from drinking, but you may pick up some strategies and insights from looking at other aspects of her program. Many of us have found it very helpful. Of course, don't be a stranger! The folks that return frequently seem to enjoy greater success. Don't know if it's the discipline, or our charm that does the trick!
