    hi everyone

    Dearest DLW -

You go! You are right..the battle is not in the days, the months, the years, but in EACH decision.

You can say yes or no to each drink...or refill.

You can stay strong, or have a slip.

Every decision is a struggle, and there are much stronger people here than me who can give better advice, but know YOU are appreciated here.

I have done the supplements, and had some success, ask what you need to - we are here to help!

      hi everyone

      Well done...

      DLW,
Congrats. I can remember going to my first AA meeting...it was only several months ago. I was VERY unsure of what to expect. It was an open speaker meeting...and, I've been to several of those since. I find a lot of support in listening to others tell their stories, impart what they've learned in their struggles, and deliver a little bit of hope. I KNOW it helped me.

I've been to several closed meetings since. It definitely renews my ability to carry on AF. I still struggle, no doubt we all do...anything we can do to beat back that nagging desire is a good thing. AA included...

Welcome, let us know how it's going...

[...am back after a hiatus. Finally going to AA...struggling, but sober...]

      Good day to all!!
Working on it... AF as of...[sigh]. Today...today is all that matters.

        hi everyone

DLW - think I missed you, but welcome. I've never been to AA, but I shared my problem with some people at my local church - it really relieved me of a huge burden and enabled me to begin to tackle my problem head on.

          hi everyone

          Good luck!

I hope everything works out for you! I also have never been to AA but I have a friend of the family who recently went through a rehab program and it was recommended to her, when she got out, to go to different AA meetings if she didn't like the first group she went to. There are lots of different locations and meeting times, and if you don't feel comfortable with one group, it doesn't mean you won't feel comfortable in another. I thought of it sort of like looking around for a church which I did a few years ago. I tried a few and stayed at the one I liked.

Best to you, keep coming back here, it helps! I'm on day 8 AF and for the first time in probaby more than 20 years (not counting my pregnancies) :-) - and I come here every day just to get support and ideas.
