    Hello I'm New Here

I have been worried about my drinking habits for a long time now, always making excuses. This has been an absolutely harendous year for myself and my family and now I have an opportunity for clearing out all the negatives in my life including excessive drinking. My only desire at this point in life is to find the true joy in living which seems to have eluded me, I would appreciate any advice I can get.

    Hello I'm New Here

    Welcome margierose
You have come to a great place. The people here are so loving and supportive. If you have not read the MWO book I would get that, it is a great book. Read the post and start a thread and tell us a little about yourself. I am sure there are plenty of us who have been in your situation and together we work through it. Keep possting and let us know how we can help you.

      Hello I'm New Here

Welcome! Good advice, above, from HW08! Gather together your determination to get the "excessive drinking" out of your life, make a good workable plan, and stick around here. That's what works!

      best wishes,

Thankyou Help Wanted and A Work in Progress for responding so quickly. Would like to tell you more about myself but am not sure how to, is the best way through a new thread or post reply.

            Hello I'm New Here

Welcome Margie. We're here to listen, chime in and help. This forum is an amazing parade of people dealing with the same thing I am dealing with. I thought I was so alone. Now I know I'm not unusual at all, and my failings and hopefully eventual success will also not be unusual.

Posting a "life story" is cathartic and a good start. You can do it in this thread, or start a new thread. There is a forum for it "Tell us your story". There's a thread "Who are you people". I just bumped it so it should be on top now. That's a good spot too. If you don't see it, just scroll down a few pages.

Mostly, just join us, and join in. If this task was easy, this forum would not exist. It does, and it's not easy. Together we can share and smooth the road for each other.

              Hello I'm New Here

              A big welcome Rach!

I can't top what has been said so...ditto. I have only been here a few months and although I still struggle a bit I am doing so much better. I was a 1-2 bottle girl now down to 1-2 glasses. Between the book, supps and I love the cd's, it is working for me. Oh, and all the wonderful, wonderful people here.

              So again welcome!!
:flower: I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm better than I used to be.

                Hi martierose!
Welcome and I'm new too! However, this is a great place for support. Don't leave. If you're not getting the response you need or want, let us know - just post it - I did.
We all are in the same place -basically wanting to get "out". I think you can find help here.
Keep posting, and let us know what is up with you, and what we can do to help!

                    Hello I'm New Here

I'm thinking of trying the whole abstaining thing for a month or so...wondering if I can ever get to the point where i can just have a glass or 2 of vino vs. bottle or 2. Am I foolish to even think this?

                      Hello I'm New Here

Chaha the whole concept of Free or Moderation is on nearly all of our minds.

Don't worry a lot about that for now. For most of us, the current issue is detoxing from years of abuse.

Once our bodies return to normal, we can experiment with moderation.

I've reached a level myself of lowered expectations. My goal is to have 1/2 glass of wine, maybe once or twice a week.

But you know what. The joy of having my body back, and my time back, and not hiding in a cave or being perpetually depressed is worth a whole lot more than all the wine in the world.

This is a great place to be. We can really relate to each other, like the "earthlings" cannot. The book is great, and the supps. help alot. Stick around.

                              Hello I'm New Here

                              MargieRose,

I am pretty new here too. I remember how hard that first post was for me. I sent several private messages to some of the members before I could bring myself to post. You have taken that step! I am so proud of you for that! Whatever your goals are, you will find support here without judgement.

I would like to suggest checking out the thread "Read the MWO book". Once I started reading the book I realized that I need the entire program. This forum is part of it but there are other "parts" that are important.

So glad you found your way here!
