    I think it's the hypno CD's!

I think that's what's different for me this time. I really do. I've been struggling for a couple of months. And even on days I would count as AF I might have 1-2 glasses. But for me that was huge and hated to go back to one, so that's what I did.

But I was not following the CD's regularly. Either fell asleep (drank and passed out) or didn't take the time. I had a hard time getting down all those stairs...then the escalator, those who have them understand. Well, I did part 2 of the hypnonic one where he just counts down to 20. So much easier. And I tell you what....I haven't had one drop in two days!!! Even had a bottle at home last night and was going to have 1-2 cause it was Friday (don't know why, but that makes it okay), I just plain didn't want it. I was so amazed, and I do think for me, it's was because of the hypnotherapy!!

So to all that are not following them or have not tried....well let's just say, you might rethink it.

    Just wanted to share. :h

I feel the same way, AK. It's hard to describe because you can't put a finger on why it works but I'm with you- it does! Congratulations to you, my friend! I know you have been struggling, but now I can hear the HOPE in your post. Great job.

I never fall asleep without the sleep learning cd on beside my bed...I am a believer.

AK, you really do feel you have turned a corner. I can tell because you posted your date in your signature. Good girl.

          Thanks Kriger,

The date seemed symbolic, and I really do feel different. I'm sure I will still have some ups and downs but somehting in the cd's made me think differenly about good ol' AL. He just don't seem so appealing anymore.

I just thought if there was anyone out there wondering about the CD's, I would say that they might not be for everyone but I think they are definately worth a try.

Good luck all on this difficult journey :h

                  RE: Hyno CD's

I've been using the Alcohol Freedom Program available through Wendi.com. It's a set of 6 CD's and exercises to use in the journaling which is an important part of the program. I did it for 30 days and did very well. I think I need to repeat it for another 30. I really hate to accept that I'll need to work on being AF something I'll have to deal with the rest of my life. I hoped I'd finally "get it" and never think about it again. So naive! :headbanger:

Anyway, I believe that changing thinking is part of the key to being AF....and the hynosis can be very helpful.

ak, thanks so much! I've done the first part of the hypno CD many times but never the second part. I'll do it today. Thanks for the tip! :thanks:

I agree with Gaia. Finding ways to work with our thought processes (and our emotions) is extremely important. Self-hypnosis, visualizations, imagery, meditation, all can be VERY helpful. Different people may benefit more, or less, from different methods (or be willing, or not, to take the time and effort for some of these things).

I have been trained in hypnosis, and tried using the MWO recordings, myself. It just was not for me (the guy's voice really bugged me), and I didn't try very hard to force myself to keep trying, because I already had an established meditation practice that I believe addresses the same or similar types of "target areas."

One way or another, though, it's vitally important to address the "mind game."

Thank you WIP, I was hoping for other points of view.

I didn't like his voice in the beginning either, but I had looked on the website and there was a very nice photo(didn't show the face) of a handsome man. I got to thinking if I tried to picture him in a more positive way than I initially had, that it would help. It has, now his voice is soothing and comforting.

I think your right though, a lot has to be changed in our minds and thought procees regarding mean ol AL.

Wishing everyone a great day :l

                        Day 4 Woohoo!!

Awesome job on 4 days AK. I am glad the CD's are helping you. I have not tried them, I only have the one that came in the 6 week pack. I think it is called drinking socially. I am not drinking so I have not listened to it. Keep up the good work!

                            Day 4 Yaay!

I even went without Topa yesterday. And it was the weekend, that for me is unheard of. I have drank daily for 15 yrs at least. I sure gonna try like heck to keep this going!!

I appreciate the input on the CDs, interesting to see how others feel about them.

                              I think it's the hypno CD's!

                              CDs work for me!!

AK - I think the CDs have worked wonders for me. I listen to the subliminal one at work, and I've read that one of the subliminal messages is "You enjoy listening to these recordings" or something like that. I do enjoy listening to them, although I can get a bit ancy and bored, as I tend to be a high energy person, and it's hard for me to relax sometimes. And the guy's voice is kind of funny and his pronunciation of hammock cracks me up. But I try to see the light side of it, and joke to hubby about how things are "very pleasant" and "very nice". But he does manage to get me into some state of relaxation and I am assuming some level of hypnosis because I do seem to actually "snap" out of it when he counts down at the end of the session. The bottom line for me is that the whole program is having positive effects on reducing my drinking, and I think the CDs have been critical, in addition to the supps and Topa. I'm at 100 mgs, and with doc's advice, will stay here for awhile to see how things go. Great job at your 4 days AF!! I hope to string together a few myself here in a few days. Just doing mod right now, but happy with the way things are going so far. Glad to hear that things are going well for you!! Very nice!! ;-)
