HELP!!!
So are you drinking alone or with someone else at this time.
I have been drinking moderately(with in reason) since I was 16 but always felt I was in control even if I tied one one once in a while but what has really scared me in the last couple of years is that as soonas the alcohol is in my system the calling to have more was overwhelming. I would "sneak" downstairs and drink an extra beer while my husband sat upstairs slowly sipping on his beer while watching hockey or football.
Where do you stand with how you drink?

HELP!!!
Thank you sooo much to each and every one of you that replied to me last night....sorry that I can't name your names as there were so many of you. OK here goes in response, I drink alone at home (a full bottle of wine every evening!). My partner and I lived together for 17 years up until 4/5 years ago, although we do still speak on a regular basis and haven't given up hope that one day he will move back in! I love him dearly, but I feel that it is ME who is holding up our being reunited as a family, due to my alcohol routine...which he won't be happy to move back into. And I can't blame him for that. We quite often plan a nice weekend in front of the tv together over the phone, but who can blame him for calling me an hour in advance to check my state of mind....not me! He tells me that my speech is slightly slurred and suggests that we 'leave it for now' and maybe he'll come over the following night. But the following night never happens because I can't control the urge to drink before he gets here! He's been so bloody patient with me these past 4/5 years but obviously his patience is wearing thin! I'm so frightened that he'll start looking elsewhere for a 'lifetime partner' if I keep on letting him down!!!!!! He's my soul mate and I can talk to him about ANYTHING and he is actually still being supportive towards me. Even offered to attend a doctors appointment with me bless! Although he's got quite a hectic workstyle at the moment so don't know when we'll both be able to attend together!? To put it bluntly, I love the bones of this man.............so why the hell is the drink still coming between us??? I 'm totally confused by it all. Is it to do with my past...................or am I looking for excuses for my drinking? Was I born with this problem? I just don't know why I drink?????????? You there WIP? Thanks again to you all from the bottom of my heart XThree F's . . .

HELP!!!
Three F's
I created my own prison with AL as my warden. I began as a social drinker, and became a very lonely alcoholic. Believe me. I have lived life on both sides of the bottle (Was Alcohol Free for 10 years). Life is so much better without it. I am looking forward to your "arrival". HELP!!!
Basically, I've got my own routine after work.............eat, drink and sleep (early so's to get up on time the next morning for work)
The thought of my routine being broken scares me to death due to having lived on my own for such a long time! My partner has no sense of time and will quite happily surf the net till the early hours, even though he needs to be up handy the next morning. He's a night owl. He can survive on a few hours, where as I can't. I NEED 8 hours at least! If I go up at 9pm he thinks it's a strange hour to be heading to bed.............way too early. Which it is If I'm honest! Normal people are just finishing their shopping by then!!!!!I think I'm scared stiff of my boring routine being disrupted if I'm honest..............but why, cos it's so unbelievably boring!?Three F's . . .

HELP!!!
3Fs, yes, I am here. Yes, it is scary to let go of alcohol, even though you know it is destroying you. Yes, it is difficult. What I am seeing you doing is spending a lot of time inside your head, debating the question, asking "why," and so forth. You can do that forever... many people do. It doesn't help. The only thing that helps is to begin changing your behavior and your thinking. When you are ready to change, everything that you need to help you with that is here... but you have to make the decision and do the work. It's all up to you. When you get the alcohol out of your life, you can look at the other issues or problems clearly, and deal with them.
best wishes,

HELP!!!
WIP can you please answer one question for me, I have NEVER had a drink during the daytime until about 4 months ago.My target has always been 9pm till quite recently. Then I got to learn that a work colleague had the same problem..............only he drinks during the day. I've never done that before till he put this thouht into my head about having a drink during the day and then having a 'power nap'! Since then I drink during the day and drunk myself into oblivion..............had my 'power nap' and then started again later on. Should I ignore this 'friend' or not??????????Three F's . . .

HELP!!!
Starting point: read the post in the "tool box" about how to make a plan. Then, make a plan. Get the alcohol out of the house. Refuse to buy any more. Stop drinking. Stop buying it, stop drinking it. Eat healthy, exercise every day, tell yourself you do not drink, refuse to give in to urges/impulses/cravings, go to AA meetings, use supplements, use medications, practice meditation, use the hynotherapy recordings. Read the MWO book. Come here and post a lot about how you are doing.
If you had cancer, would you sit around wondering how or why you got it, and wondering whether you should start doing what is necessary to treat the cancer? No. Same for alcohol dependence. Stop thinking about it, and do something about it.
It's a big project. Do all of it. Find out what works well for you. Mostly: stop drinking, and teach yourself, in your own mind, that you do not drink.
