    OK, here goes nothing...

    Thanks Periwinkle...

    Well, where does one start?

I'm self employed, work at home (which is NOT a good thing for me anymore - seeing that I'm less selective about the time of day to have that first drink nowadays). My weapon of choice is wine but I'm not above mixing something hard into whatever juice is in the fridge, if wine is not available. I'm fairly successful, but can see that slipping away in a hurry if I don't put a stop to the down slide I am on. I'm also in a new (and very happy relationship), which I am bound to screw up if I don't smarten up. So, I have lots to lose - or gain.. whichever way you want to look at it.

I've had a bout with alcohol 10 years ago and managed to quit (sorry, moderate) on my own at that time. This time, I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed, skeptic, disgusted with myself, etc. and I think it will require all that I have and some support. This time, I don't think I can do it from the darkness of my closet.

That's about it in a nutshell. Again, thank you for the welcome.

    Hiya Sunshine,
A huge welcome to you and well done for taking the first step and opening up.
The support and supplements are what helped me this time. Made all the difference. Have you read the book yet?

      Hi Sunshine,

I am so glad you decided to start a thread! Welcome!

I work from home too. Yea, it's hard. For some reason I started thinking it was ok to start drinking at 10 am some days. That way I could sober up by the time hubby got home at 4pm. I don't think there is anything you can say here that someone hasn't done or seen or heard before - amazing isn't it?

I've only been here about a month now. But today I can look at myself in the mirror again... and even smile at who I see looking back.

I love the support and friends I have found here.

Welcome. I personally think at least 30 days alcohol free is key to success.

No, I have not read the book yet. But I will. I am doing a bit of research on my own to see which combination of methods may work best for me.

Welcome Sunshine! You have good list of what you have to loose to AL. I suggest you add to that list what you have to gain by being AF. Are you exploring any supps or CDs? Let us know what we can do to help. Best of luck :wings:

I found that the kudzu and L-glut gave me quick results for the AL cravings I was having and I found them at the local health food store. Pretty inexpensive compared to the price of AL, not to mention what it was doing to my health and relationships (including my business).

I cut way back on my AL consumption. After the AL fog started lifting I figured out what else I needed and put a plan together.

                      Welcome, Sunshine! :welcome:

I strongly recommend the MWO book. I downloaded it and read it in one sitting. Changed my life. You're in a wonderful, supportive place and I hope to read more of your posts.

I work at home too, the stories I'm sure we could share :l

AL is a devious little devil. I cried through my entire first thread just getting it out and finding out I wasn't alone.

Sunshine, welcome to the site. I am alcohol free so i dont know if my plan works in with what you want. I have used a mix of no booze, misc. vitamins, exercise, and a big measure of personal growth. The combo is key to my success. Also, I really could never have made it this far with out my dear friends here on MWO.

                          Good luck to you.

Yes, I am exploring supplements, and I'm look into the hypnotic area as well. It's a chunk of change, all at once so I may try a little at a time.
