        Gonna do it!!

I am going to keep reminding myself how awful I feel the next morning and how great I feel when I do go af. I am not going to think about how I am going to get through tomorow but how I'm gonna get through today. One day at a time!!

Those are excellent parts of a solid plan, 2sox! How about some of the other elements? Supplements, healthy diet, plenty of good non-alcohol liquids, avoiding people, places, and things that trigger drinking urges, exercise, hypnotherapy, maybe medication? Sometimes it is hard to win this battle if the only, or primary, place we are fighting it is within the privacy of our own (unruly) minds... I hope you will come here often and write about how things are going for you!

I exercise daily, I had a non-alcoholic pinacolda early today after my cleaning was done, tasted really good to. I have had no desire to drink today. Finally I get day one past me, that has not been done for a few months. I know it is past because after 6:00 the urge goes away, although no urges today - yeah. Thank you all for your support and ideas. I'm off to have a bowl of icecream.

              Hi twosox,

Success is so sweet - in your case, literally!! It sounds like you're doing this on willpower - will that be sufficient for you? WIP wrote a good post - a thoughtful checklist of areas to strategize. Might be worth a second look. Exercise is excellent - I find it starts my day off so well. But early morning I'm also at my strongest, so needed different strategies for later in the day. BTW, how do you make a non-al pina colada? I'd be tempted to try it, but don't want too much sugar.

                Gonna do it!!

Vera-b, I bought the non-alcoholic pina colada mix and added ice and mixed it up in the mixer, its pretty good, my daughter loved it. I'm not sure what my plan will be when the urges come, but maybe to remember how awful it feels when I fail and how great it feels not drinking. My problem now is that I have been eating to much, guess I will just have to work out extra hard.

2Sox, have you taken a look at the "toolbox" thread? There are good ideas there for dealing with cravings/urges... and... you might consider just letting go of concerns about eating too much, for the next week or so. It helps a lot, early on, if you find ways to give yourself plenty of stuff that you enjoy... after all, you are giving up something that is VERY hard to give up, and you don't want to set yourself up for a situation in which you relapse because you are feeling so deprived...

Hey wip, I will try not to worry about the overeating for the next week or so. I think I might start taking pics again. Love wildlife photography, have not been doing it in a while, so maybe I will start back up. End of day 2 ready to go to bed and read a book, miss doing that to, love to read. DLW we do control our destinies good job on 33 af keep it up! Have a good night everyone and see you here tomorow.
