You`ll be O.K. Having come through all that you have........you`re a born survivor and perhaps significantly tougher than you feel right now.

I always say that it takes all sorts to make a MWO, just as it takes all sorts to make a world. Please don`t feel that anyone here is against you........all good people are welcome and.......that includes you. It`s evident that your heart is in the right place.

Sure, I`m AF, but there was a time when I wasn`t........there was a time when I seemed to repeatedly fail/weaken, and I never could see into my future, to now, when I am stronger and not drinking. Noone can see the sobriety up ahead.........I was very despondent until I got here.

Just as alcoholism is a progressive disease, so too is the recovery progressive. You will eventually get where you want to be with your drinking, provided you strive to try a little harder every day.

Life can sometimes be very cruel, but look at all that you have overcome/endured.........you are tough........says you can do this. :l

Chelle, Remember that you will always have a friend in me.Remember that I have stuck up for you and many others(time and time again).You should be able to post anywhere on this site.I do....I even started the Peace Corp. in your honor.No one seemed to want to keep it going but I really tried.
Recovery is a long and winding road that has potholes along the way.I have been down that road and I know it has not been easy.NOT EASY BUT IT'S WORTH FITTING FOR !!!!!!!!Don't give up and I know you will suceed ..... PM me, if I can help

Hi Chelle

Yes, memories are hard to live with.

But in my mind, the link between alcoholism and abuse lies in powerlessness.

You are abused so then you somehow deep down, feel you deserve it or are bad. So despite the bad parts of boozing it up, you continue because, well it seems to fit. It also makes you feel powerless and victimized. For me that's why you keep making all these posts and don't make any progress despite all the support. As soon as you realize you have the power to help yourself you will change your own life.

Just wanted to add...

Sure, there are perpetrators who wound us in childhood. But we ourselves are the ones who keep it going into adulthood with self-destructive habits like drinking, generating drama and harsh inner voices.

So if you want to get better, you need to treat yourself better. You need to stop doing the bidding of people who abused you. Call yourself off. Life is 100% easier when you are your own ally.

As adults we actually do have power and we can stop living life in a defensive position like the one you are in now.

I recommend reading You can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay.
