yeah!! day 1 done and over
Well, I finally got through my first AF day. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all. I was too busy to think about drinking, and too tired by the time I got home to even consider it. I slept well and am looking forward to day 2. It's the weekend that frightnes me, but that's too far away to consider right now. thank you for all your support, I feel like I'm in the right place and at least on the right track. I hope everyone else is doing well. I still have a ton of work to catch up on for school. I'll be checking in later...:thanks:Tags: None

Good for you, Arwen! Same message to you as the one I just posted to Peace... now is NOT too early to begin planning for how to handle the triggers that you know will be coming at you. Failing to plan is... planning to fail, right? Also... check out the daily thread in the Monthly ABS forum, it is be a good "home base" for anyone who is working on an AF plan!

Thanks...well said.
I didn't think of it that way but you're exactly right. I don't want to plan on failing so I'm going to put my weekend agenda together right now. I have loads of school work, 10 or 12 hours each day in the library out to alleviate that. It's my own fault..I got a boatload done yesterday (3-four page papers, and two lesson plans for Romeo and Juliet) I'm having my ninth graders construct their own episode of This American Life from the perspective of one of the characters in the play. They'll get to create a digital video and post it to UTube if they want. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. Thanks a lot for your encouragement. You are a very positive person. You always have some words of encouragement intertwined with your excellent advice. I appreciate that because I tend to be so negative on myself and have had such a ngative outlook lately. That probably affects drinking state of mind as well... ya think? Thanks again...Arwen

Hooray! The hardest steps become easy once you figure out how to do it. Staying busy is a great strategy. I also lead a busy life - looking back, I'm not sure how I found the time to drink as much as I did.:goodjob:My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Well done Arwen!! Here's to day 2.
I used to find myself at a loose end of weekends. I know off work from friday lunch time so I am lucky enough to have some wonderful time to catch up with "stuff". It also constantly amazes me how much time I gave to AL - what a waste of a precious weekend.
My favorite weekend past time now is to have an afternoon nap with my favorite book and then stay up late to watch a movie."The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it"

Hi Arwen, Love the name
Congrats on getting through your first day.
Keeping busy seems to be the key for a lot of us here... and i sounds like you have a busy life, so you have that in your favour.
I think weekends are hard for a lot of reasons.. loose end/relaxation/lots of spare time... all excuses for that odd drink. Hopefully you can fill your weekend with lots of activities to keep you busy (but also relaxed... which is just as important!)
Best of Luck to You!
C.?I am playing all the right notes... But not necessarily in the right order.....?
