SO MANY SUCCESSFUL AF DAYS- WHAT YOUR NUMBER?

I've been a MWO member for a lot longer than I have been sober, but I believe today is around day 510 for me. Still floors me that I was able to find my way out but I did with the help and support of everyone here.

I am with you O2M. I quit counting. In your case, you have gone a long time but...

          It doesn't matter.

I am AF. It simply does not matter to me how long.

What matters is that I am AF, I am happy, I am sober, I am not dying.

It does not matter for anyone here how long, except to exhilarate and rejuvinate!! Good on those that have long terms AF!! Yay!!

But for those of us who don't. Good on us. We are AF today... Today we are not killing ourselves. Today we are sober, happy and free.

          Love,

Congratulations to everyone who has posted, and those yet to come whether your AF time is a few hours or a few years or somewhere in between.

Today is Day 175 AF for me. Each subsequent AF day is precious to me as it takes me one day farther away from the misery that was my life consumed with alcohol. Every long term (meaning years) AF person I know - here and in "real" life - rightly warns of the need to be ever vigilant. Urges to drink can come at any time - even years down the road. But with that being said, in my experience this gets a bit easier the longer I stay with it. Yes, I still get urges, and sometimes really strong ones. But they come less often. Most of them are less intense then they used to be. And each AF day takes me into new life interests where alcohol just doesn't fit.

So I say celebrate each and every AF day and know that you are moving farther away from AL with each passing day.

            Best wishes!
